Xiaomi appears to be taking a keen interest in Gaming as of late. Last week, the company launched a gaming-centric laptop dubbed the Xiaomi Mi Gaming Laptop and now the company, through a launch invitation, has confirmed that Black Shark, a company backed up by Xiaomi, is going to launch a gaming-centric Android smartphone come April 13.
The smartphone, though backed by Xiaomi, will not be launched under the Xiaomi branding, it will have the Black Shark Branding instead.
Looking at the photo, it is clear that the Black Shark Gaming Phone is going to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and it does not take an Android expert to tell that it is most certainly going to be the latest offering in the Snapdragon lineup, the Snapdragon 845. At the memory front, the Black Shark phone is reportedly going to feature 6GB/8GB of RAM and somewhere between 64GB and 256GB of internal storage.
The device is also going to have support for VR gaming and rumors hint that the company is going to launch a dedicated VR headset along with the device.
Moving to the OS, the device is going to run on Android Oreo 8.0 with a custom OS (it won’t be running on MIUI, reportedly).
As of now, there is no news on the price the device is going to be offered at. That said, April 13 is not that far from now.
If you are a gaming fan and are waiting for the Razor phone, you might want to wait a little more and let the Black Shark phone be released.
