New benchmarks have confirmed that the new M2 Chip is 20% faster than the M1 in some situations.
The leaked benchmarks from Apple’s new 13-Inch Macbook Pro have found their way onto Geekbench, suggesting someone has been testing the new chips internally, or a reviewer has early access.

Apple’s new M2 chip runs at 3.49GHz versus the 3.2GHz on the M1 one, and it earned a score of 1919, around 12% faster than the 1707 that the M1 13-inch MacBook Pro model received. The M2 has a multi-core score of 8928, which is up by 20% on the 7419 score of the M1 machine.
The company has previously suggested the chip was 18% faster than the M1.
The M2 chip scored 30627 for Metal, compared with the 21001 score on the M1 machine. That could be because the M2 chip offers up to a 10-core GPU, versus the 8-core on the M1, but we don’t know for certain which machine was used on the initial leaked Geekbench report.
