iMac Pro will include always-on Siri

The new Imac Pro could include always-on “Hey Siri” functionality, according to new reports.

Developer and friend of AppleMagazine Guilherme Rambo did some digging into Apple’s BridgeOS 2.0 code, seemingly confirming that the upcoming iMac Pro will include an A10 fusion chip with 512 MB of RAM.

The A10 fusion chip was last used in Apple’s iPhone 7, released last year.

Although the functionality of the new ARM-based has yet to be confirmed by Apple, it is believed that the technology will enable the always-on “Hey Siri” on iMac Pro, scheduled for release later this year.

Developer Steve Troughton-Smith‏ suggested that the new chip will also aid in the boot and security process of macOS, speeding up existing boot times.

The new iMac Pro, which will be priced from $4,999, was unveiled at Apple’s WWDC back in June and is scheduled to be released next month.

However, with Apple’s other December release, the Google Home competitor HomePod, being pushed back to the new year, it remains to be seen whether the Pro will enter the market in time for Christmas.
