AppleCare+ for the iPhone X will cost you $199

If you have high hopes of getting your hands on the new Iphone X you’re probably considering some warranty – just to be on the safe side. At $1,149 (for the 256GB model and $999 for64GB) the iPhone X has shaped up to be a very expensive phone, so it’s no surprise that Apple’s extended warranty program – AppleCare+ – isn’t cheap either.

Apple is set to charge $199 for AppleCare+ on the iPhone X which is quite a considerable jump from the $129 price tag that the company currently charge for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. For those who are thinking of opting for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, this offer will remain, but those who are upgrading to the OLED device (which already costs more than any other iPhone ever) the price of protection will go up. Even forgetting about the hefty price you’ll be paying for the phone, the all-glass design of the device means that those who do fork out will certainly be looking for some insurance.

Despite the upgrade in the price, you won’t get an upgrade in service. Buyers will get the same two years of coverage for any manufacturing defects or battery life issues and two incidents of accidental Damage cover. Water damage is still counted under accidental damage, and the prices for your two AppleCare+ repairs are the same: $29 for screen replacement and $99 for more substantial damage.
