Tecno Phantom 6 Plus Gsmarena Review, Specifications and Price in Nigeria: On its 10th Anniversary, the Chinese based smartphone company, Tecno, launched the Phantom 6 and Phantom 6 Plus as the latest variants in the Phantom Series. The Phantom series has held Tecno's premium smartphones and is one of the series to have two devices where one is a highly speced version of the other. Display and Build
Tecno Phantom 6 Plus features a 6 inch Full HD LTPS Capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel density of 367 PPI. Its large display size categorizes this device as a Phablet and its high resolution offers a screen that is bright, crisp and clear for reading, browsing, and watching videos etc. Shielding the screen is a Corning Gorilla Glass v3.0 that reduces the effects of scratches and cracks on the screen.
The Phantom 6 Plus's body has a 98.1% metal ratio, hence this device has a metal unibody with a premuim look and classy feel. This body curves slightly at the back, has rounded edges to enable a firmer grip of the device and its back is non-removable, thereby protecting the internal components of the device. It has a dimension of 160.35 x 83.46 x 7.7 mm which gives it a slim build, making the Phantom 6 Plus still easy to be held and moved around with. The smartphone is available in Champagne Gold and Grey colours.
Like the Phatom 6, the Phantom 6 Plus also features an Iris Scanner that scans the user's eye before unlocking the device (only if scanned Iris matches the Iris of the user pre-saved on the phone). This variant of the Phantom 6 also features a fingerprint scanner that can unlock the device in 0.3 seconds, as well as a free TrustLook antivirus software. Enabling both scanners would require scanning of one's fingerprint, then the eye print before unlocking the device. This makes the Phantom 6 Plus the first Tecno smartphone to feature dual biometric securities like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and a pre-installed antivirus (tri-fold security).

Tecno Phantom 6 Plus is powered by a 64-bit Deca-core Mediatek Helio X20 processor, which is split into two quad-core processors with processing speed of 2.0GHz and 1.55GHz respectively, and a dual-core processor with a processing speed of 2.1GHz. This processor with its fast processing speed can ensure speedier operations, provide an enjoyable experience especially when playing graphic Intensive games and generally, an acceptable level of performance. According to Tecno, the Phantom 6 Plus performs 70% better and consumes 30% less power than the Phantom 5.
This smartphone is also powered by 4GB of RAM and comes with a 64GB Internal memory storage that is expandable upto 128GB via microSD card (hybrid slot: one can either use the SIM 2 slot for a second SIM or MicroSD card). The RAM is large enough to support mulitasking and switching between apps seamlessly, and the Inbuilt storage can support several apps and games Irrespective of their sizes. Tecno claims that the RAM can run 32 apps simultaneously without lags or hangs and the inbuilt storage can support up to 25 HD movies or 12,000 songs in mp3 format.
The Phantom 6 Plus runs on Tecno's custom UI HiOS, based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The HiOS features lots of creative wallpapers, themes and font styles for customizing the phone. It also provides convenient camera access, commands to regulate app data usage, onscreen makeup for radiant photos, and a quicker way of freeing up app caches and temporary files in-order to ease memory space. This user Interface does not only uniquely distinguish Tecno devices like the Phantom 6 Plus from other Android phones, it also promises a good user experience.

For its rear camera, the Phantom 6 Plus features a 21MP Sony IMX230 sensor with dual LED flash. This camera is an upgrade from the 13MP rear camera of the Phantom 5 and it can record 1080p full HD Videos at 30 Frames Per Second (FPS). Other features of this camera Include HDR, Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), 4x digital zoom, and geo-tagging. The Phantom 6 Plus has a front camera with a resolution on 8MP. This camera also comes with a LED flash for capturing images and videos in lowly lit areas.
Battery and Connectivity
The Tecno Phantom 6 Plus has a battery capacity of 4050mAh which is almost similar to the 4500mAh battery of the Infinix Note 3 and a reasonable upgrade from the 2700mAh battery of the Phantom 6. On heavy usage, this battery can last up to a day and on moderate usage, upto 2 days before there is need to recharge. The battery is non-removable and is based on Li-on technology. Tecno claims that just 10 minutes of charge can support up to 240 minutes talk time, 85 minutes music playback and up to 30 minutes of 4G connection.
Phantom 6 Plus is a dual SIM smartphone with dual Standby, where the second SIM slot also serves as a MicroSD slot. This means that users of this device will have to choose between using a second SIM or a microSD card. This smartphone supports 4G LTE which results in faster download speeds, and a USB TYPE-C port for reversible charging, fast charging and data transfer to other devices. Other connectivity options of the Phantom 6 Plus include 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, FM radio, 3.5mm Audio Jack, and GPS. Its sensors include G-Sensor, Ambient Light Sensor and Proximity Sensor.

The Tecno Phantom 6 Plus specs are remarkable as they are ones that would be expected from a brand's flagship device. But for the price it is being offered, which is rather on the high side, It might lose out in the race with several other devices that are less expensive but offer almost similar specs. It comes with great specs like an ample RAM storage, good cameras and large battery capacity, but does not come with the moderate price tag reputably known for Tecno devices. But then, for the specs it offers, the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus is worth the price.
