The new Flip CX5 and CX9 laptops are high performance and high price, taking Asus Chromebooks to a whole new level.

These Chromebooks come with 11th Gen Intel Core processors. They go for an upward of $700 with the Flip CX5 going for a whopping $1,049.99 and the CX9 going for $749.99.

The original Chromebook design was intended to bring into the market, a cheaper laptop that was also light on resources owing to its reliance on Google Chrome OS.

But, of course, there is a segment of the market which brought in higher-performing Chromebooks, at a higher pricing point.

A good example is Samsung which brought in the Galaxy Chromebook 2 at $550. This was, however, far less powerful than what Asus is offering, but the price is also almost half of what Asus is floating for their Chromebooks.

Google’s own Pixelbook Go comes with a starting price tag of $649. It features an Intel Core processor too.

The upscale to the Pixelbook Go, the Chromebook supremacy, keeps getting periodic challengers.

Asus comes directly into this pool with these new Chromebooks it just launched.

The pair of Chromebooks Asus just launched have a starting pricing point that is higher than the Google Pixelbook Go and feature the latest hardware, with configurations that even push the price higher to over $1,000.

The CX9 and the Flip CX5 Chromebooks both come with the latest 11th Generation Intel Core processors which makes the Google Pixelbook Go’s 8th Generation CPU look like ancient dinosaurs.

Of the two new models, the CX9 is the cheaper one, even though at $749.99, that’s darn expensive for a Chromebook.

This laptop is the first of the Asus Chromebooks to have the company’s signature LED-lit number pad which is found inbuilt within the touchpad. This was only available on Asus ZenBooks before.

At the same time, this Chromebook comes with a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports together with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. It also goes up to a Core i7-1165G7 CPU, a 512 GB storage, twice the RAM, and a touchscreen display.

A 14 hour of battery life is also being claimed by Asus for the Core i7 version. These specs justify its high price tag.

The Flip CX5 comes with the same specs on RAM, processor, and storage, with a 14-inch touchscreen display.

But it adds to this with a 360-degree hinge to its full 2-in-1 design. On top of this, it has a digital stylus which the CX9 misses.

However, its battery life falls a bit short to just about 11 hours.

Unfortunately, if you would want to lay your hands on either of these two Asus Chromebooks, you will have to sign up with the Asus online store to be notified when they become available again. They are currently listed as being temporarily sold out.
