Just a Typo: That’s What Dell’s CUDA Core Controversy Was all About

Did Dell’s G15 page confuse you as well with the claim that it has 3,584 Cuda cores rather than the 3,850? Don’t worry, Dell didn’t reduce the cores.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GPU still has 3,850 cores as suggest by NVIDIA first. All the confusion has been created due to a typo on Dell’s page.

The mistake has since been corrected. Dell recently confirmed the correction in a statement to Tom’s Hardware.

The mistake was first brought to light by Jarrod’s Tech on Twitter after a viewer told him about it. Notebookcheck even claimed it to be a technical change. But even they backtracked on it once it became clear that it was due to a typo.

One of the reasons why this error became such a huge deal was due to RTX 3070-equipped models of the Alienware M15 Ryzen Edition reporting incorrect CUDA cores when you run software like software like HWinfo and GPU-Z.

That’s an error Dell still hasn’t corrected and while work on that is ongoing, they have advised users not use the system’s vBIOSes to correct the issue.

For us, it was pretty surprising tat Dell has faced so many issues over a single spec. And spokesperson from Dell claimed they are keep tabs on the issue and working on the solutions.

So if you have faced similar issue make sure you check out the Dell website or their social media handles for updates and solution.

We’ll be posting them as well so if you don’t find it their, don’t forget to check back here.

Once these issues are resolved, the M15s are still the powerhouse users expect them to be and definitely worth the extra bucks.
