Microsoft has announced their recent acquisition of Playfab. PlayFab is company that provides services to game developers and help them to build games for PC, Mobile and consoles
Kareem Choudhry, Corporate Vice President, Gaming at Microsoft has written their blog and update “This acquisition extends the investments and work we’ve done on Microsoft Azure to provide a world-class cloud platform for the gaming industry,”
Facts about PlayFab
- PlayFab powers more than 1,200 live games and has served over 700 million players.
- PlayFab claims to process more than 1.5 billion transactions a day, nearly 20,000 transactions a second.
Although the terms of the acquisition are not public, it seems Microsoft plans to use PlayFab’s technology to encourage game developers to build their games on Azure, which is the company’s own cloud computing platform.
