Budget Beauty Series – Pink Sugar Creamy Matte Lipsticks (First Release) – Review, Photos & Swatches

Hey loves! Get ready to be on a Pink Sugar high” cause I’ll be reviewing a ton of products from the line for you. Well, among other things. Of course, this will be included in our Budget Beauty Series, so, I hope that’s cool with y’all. By the way, we’re on our 6th of 8th but still, I have a ton of budget friendly products here to introduce to you loves, so I hope that you’re fine with me continuing these types of reviews despite the series ending. Anyhoo, the product that I’ll be reviewing for today is the Pink Sugar Creamy Matte Lipsticks. I have here 10 shades (excluding the ones that were newly released) and I can’t wait to show them to you one by one

CLAIM TO FAME: A semi-matte lipstick that delivers long-lasting color

FAST FACTS: Covers lips in gorgeous color with a soft matte finish; highly pigmented formula glides on smoothly; formulated with vitamin E and shea butter to moisturize, nourish, and soften lips during use; comes in 10 bold shades

PERFECT FOR: All day lip lusciousness

The Pink Sugar lipsticks all come in a single type of packaging, which may be confusing since they come in two kinds: the creamy mattes and the HD lipsticks. (I’ll be reviewing those later) They come in a silver tube, with a black, plastic cap with a glossy finish. At the bottom is a transparent plastic, allowing you to see what shade the lipstick has, along with a sticker label. The label doesn’t also say whether the finish or matte or HD so if you own both finishes, you might want to keep that in mind.

As previously mentioned, the ones that I’ll be including in this review are the ones that were released last year. They come in 10 shades, mostly pinks, reds and purples. Definitely for those who want bolder lips often, and more appropriate during summer, parties, Halloween even, lol. No MLBBs so far for last year’s release

Despite what the label says, most of these lipsticks have a bit of a drier formula. They’re still very easy to apply though, and you wont experience any tugging AT ALL. But compared to those Creamy Matte Lipsticks I have encountered this wasn’t as creamy. And you will need to use a lip balm prior to application otherwise it may have a tendency to emphasize the lines of your lips. Oh and exfoliate!

Peachy pink shade, suitable for those with fair to light skin tones

Cool toned, lilac pink shade. Like Rumor, this shade is also ideal for those with fair to light skin tones.

Beautiful hot pink shade.

I know that this line lacks those MLBB shades that we all love, but I really love this one! This is really ideal for everyday wear, and despite it’s lighter shade it doesn’t appear chalky nor emphasize all of the dry lines of my lips. I find that this shade brightens up my look and makes me look younger for some reason, lol. (hence the photo :P)

Just like Rumor, I think that this shade, Selfie brightens up any look and makes you look younger once worn. However, I don’t feel like this is for everyday wear due to its lilac hue. Regardless, I never had any issues with this one.

Catfight is one of my favorites and I find it one of the most wearable, at least in my case since I really like wearing these types of shades. It’s a beautiful blue-toned hot pink shade. It’s really vibrant and frankly suitable for most if not all skin tones.

Beautiful mauvey, berry shade. One of the most wearable shade in the bunch.

Warm, pinkish coral shade. Another wearable shade

Hot tomato red shade. Your classic go-to Marilyn Monroe red.

This is definitely my most favorite among all of the shades included in this line. It’s very wearable and it flatters most if not all skin tones. It’s slightly darker than your usual MLBB shade but like I said, it’s very wearable due to it’s mauvey & berry shade. These are really the type of shades that are totally in right now so if you’re into that Kylie Jenner/MLBB lips, you might want to try this one.

Definitely something I would wear back in 2013 when I was soo into coral/orange lippies. I find this shade really ideal for summer, but it’s also very wearable so you can definitely rock this even during daytime. It can definitely brighten up your look once worn.

I find this shade very bold and appealing. Also very summer appropriate if I may say so myself. It’s not my kind of red since it leans more on the warmer side but if you’re into warmer reds, then you might like this one.

Bright, cherry red shade. Ideal for most skin tones

Deep, bold, blue-toned red. Highly pigmented and can definitely make a statement

A point-blank purple shade. Very similar to Mac’s Heroine.

Bang Bang reminds me of Revlon’s Cherries in the Snow, only this is a bit more pigmented and this has more of a soft matte finish rather than satin. If you’re not ready to wear full-on red lippies yet, try this one. It can definitely make a statement but it’s a lot softer compared to the other two.

This is my favorite among all of the red shades included in this line. I have included this in my top red lipstick choices. I love this because it’s a tad deeper compared to the other two shades, but it’s not too vampy either. It makes a nice bold/statement lipstick. It’s pigmentation is also a huge plus!

Like mentioned, Heroine is a straightforward purple shade. The shade is definitely not for everyone and usually these types of shades are mostly sold by mid-range to high-end brands. So if you want to dip your toes into purple lips but you don’t want to ruin your budget, I suggest you try this one first.

Vampy, wine shade with a bit of a frosted finish

Personally, I’m not really into frosted lipsticks because they tend to emphasize the dryness of my lips. However, since this is more of a matte lippie with a hint of frost, it kinda didn’t bother me. The hint of frost just added a bit of oomph to the lipstick without emphasizing any of my lip’s imperfections. I actually liked it.

These creamy matte lipsticks offer a rich pigmentation. With just a single swipe, the reds and the darker shades can cover my lips. I prefer to apply at least 2 layers, however for those lighter shades. These lipsticks are very lightweight, and will feel more lightweight when you blot them. Despite what’s mentioned, I don’t really see their finishes as matte/creamy matte. I would say soft matte, rather.

As for their longevity I find that they stay on my lips for a decent 4-5 hours provided that I don’t eat oily foods. Though the formula/consistency may be a bit dry, I still don’t find this drying on my lips. It’s actually a bit moisturizing, perhaps due to the Vitamin E & Shea Butter.

As for the scent, I find that this has a strong vanilla scent which may be too overwhelming for those who doesn’t like their makeups to be scented. Frankly, I’m not really fond of the scent either. I wish they can come up with lip products that are not to fragrant or just plain unscented, if possible.

All in all, I am really in love with this line, and I am glad that they added more shades in the collection. I hope that in addition to what they have added recently, they will add more bold, yet trendy (like blue, denim and green shades, kinda like Colorpop, lol) shades and also of course the more wearable ones (nudes, pinks, peaches, etc). I’m head over heels with this brand, I’m telling you! Get ready to be on a high and make sure that you wont be tempted in the coming posts because I’ll be reviewing a ton of lipsticks for you guys!
