White Cheddar Bacon Scones
Here’s how to make them.
Equipment Needed
- baking sheet
- parchment paper or silpat
- large glass mixing bowl
- 2x small glass mixing bowls
- cheese grater
- flour sifter
- measuring cups
- measuring spoons
- cooling rack
Ingredients
- 2 cups of all purpose flour + extra for dusting
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of parsley
- ½ cup of cooked chopped bacon
- ½ cup of shredded white cheddar cheese
- ¾ cup of cold cream
- ¼ cup of milk
- ½ stick of butter
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees f.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a baking mat.
Sift 2 cups of flour into a large glass mixing bowl.
Sift the sugar, salt, and baking powder into the flour, discarding any lumps.
Using a cheese grater, grate ½ stick of cheese into a small glass mixing bowl and set aside.
Next, grate ½ a stick of butter into the dry ingredients.
Give everything a quick and gentle stir to incorporate, but don’t fully mix it to combine yet.
Add in ½ cup of cheese and ½ cup of bacon and give a light stir.
Add 1/4 cup milk and give another light stir.
Add ¾ cup cold cream and the parsley.
Stir to fully mix everything together.
Flour your work area.
Remove the dough from the mixing bowl and place it onto your work space.
Begin to knead and work on the dough until it no longer sticks to your hands. Sprinkle with flour as needed.
Flattening the dough using a rolling pin can work but the dough will have the best texture if it is worked out to about an 1” thick by hand.
Cut the dough into 8 to 10 triangles.
Place the triangles onto the baking sheet about an inch apart.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the tops are lightly browned.
When you remove the scones from the oven, you can brush them with melted butter if you like.
Place the scones onto a wire rack to cool.
Serve and enjoy!
