The Living room in your home is likely to be one of the rooms that sees the most traffic. It’s not that difficult for a well-used living room to get a worn and tired feel. Redecorating a room can be a challenge for some, and it’s even more of a challenge if your budget is limited. Today I’m sharing some tips to help you give your living room a new look that expresses your personality without spending a fortune.
Fresh paint can change the appearance of a room. Consider repainting the room. Or, if your paint it in good shape, consider painting one wall in a different color. This will create a focal point in the room that makes a perfect place for a piece of art or Furniture.
Rearrange the furniture. Try moving the pieces around. If you’re currently arranged in a square or circular pattern, try putting the furniture at angles. This gives a whole new look to the layout of your room. You will find that a piece of furniture looks different in one spot than another, which is why rearranging is almost as effective as replcing furniture. Pay attention to the floor space that you have left and use it. You could actually get some large scatter cushions and use these as additional seating. It will provide your living room with a much more relaxed atmosphere.
Add an area rug. Adding an area rug is a great way to define a conversation area. Look for a size, color and design that complements the decor of the room. Area rugs work well in a central location where the seating is situated as well as at an angle underneath a Coffee Table.
Speaking of coffee tables. If your coffee table is looking tired or scratched, then cover it with a small decorative throw rug. Or if you want to be a bit more adventurous, then why not consider tiling the top of it with mosaic tiles or colored glass instead.
Add some plants. Plants add freshness and impact to the decor of a room, and if placed strategically, can hide flaws in a room.
Add or change pictures and mirror. Hang pictures that most reflect your personality. When hanging a mirror, place it in a position where it will reflect either a nice view, or an interesting architectural element of the room. Including a mirror in a room also creates the illusion of more space in a room because of the light reflecting off it.
Finally, consider if the lighting could stand to be refreshed or replaced. Replace dated, worn lamps. If you are unable to replace the whole lamp, then just consider replacing the lampshade instead.
