Begin with appetizers in France, then an entree inspired by Italy, and end on a sweet note in Thailand. Savor the authentic flavors of each of these culinary destinations.

At Try The World, we believe that food is one of the greatest way to discover new cultures. Discovering new lifestyles and new countries is what broadens our horizons and makes us who we are. So we created Try The World, the first service that lets you discover the best gourmet food and cultural finds from across the globe, delivered right to your door! Our members receive a curated gourmet box from a different destination every 2 months. Each box captures the essence of incredible places such as France, Italy, Brazil, Japan, and many more. We rely on our celebrity chefs to hand select the most delicious and authentic treats from around the world, and to enable anyone to experience the actual day-to-day foods and lifestyles from around the world.

Try The World was founded by Kat and David who met while studying at Columbia University, and grew out of their passion for food and for discovering new cultures. They didn’t have enough time or resources to travel the world, so they decided to bring the world to people’s doorstep, no passport needed! Growing up in Russia and New York, Kat caught the travel bug while studying photography and foreign languages at Columbia University. She fell in Love with French culture while studying abroad in Paris for 9 months, and has since traveled to more than 30 countries. After every trip, Kat came home with a box of delicious souvenirs for her friends and family, and documented her culinary and travel adventures on her blog which got the attention of FOX and Esquire TV networks. Kat also honed her global business skills while working at companies such as The New York Times and Weight Watchers, and met David while working on her MBA at Columbia Business School.

As an avid traveler and serial entrepreneur, David came to New York from Paris to explore the city where everyone meets. Through his experience of launching businesses and living in Europe, Asia and North America, and while pursuing his master’s degree at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs, David realized how important local products and local cultures are in our understanding of different lifestyles. David believes that enjoying another culture’s food is getting closer to the culture itself, quoting Epictetus as his motto: “bear in mind that you should conduct yourself in life as at a feast”. It is with this philosophy that we created Try The World, sourcing the best products from around the world. All our products are USFDA approved but are difficult to find in the United States. They are hand picked by Try The World’s team of travelers as well as by local experts, with a promise that they pass our highly selective criteria, eyes, ears and tastes!

I was lucky to try yet another AMAZING box from Try the World! This time I got the Amour Box and can I say just WOW on this one! This box came with a total of 8 full sized products! All of which I’ve never tried before and all were from brands I have never tried before that.  I particularly love that each box has a card to tell you all about each product and recipes to use the items.

Here are the details of the box I received:

Apple Jelly with Espellete Pepper | France

Situated at the base of the Pyrenees Mountains near the border of France and Spain, Les Petits Fruits is dedicated to producing jams in a traditional way by cooking them in copper cauldrons. Mixed with a type of chili pepper, this apple jelly is best paired with brie.

Casarecce | Italy

Stemming from the Italian word for “homemade,” casarecca is a loosely made, free-form pasta. This durum wheat semolina pasta is made in the coastal town of Gragnano – an area famed for its centuries-old traditions of pasta making.

Black Truffle Sauce | Italy

Foraging truffles since the 1900s, the Calugi family produces truffle products sourced from the cold northern forests of Tuscany. Truffle hunting is usually done with the help of a dog, a long-held tradition in which foragers celebrate their bond of working together to discover these rare delicacies.

Sticky Rice | Thailand

Commonly referred to as sticky rice, glutinous rice is one of Thailand’s most beloved desserts. Made with a rice variety that’s high in starch, the dish is sweet and sticky like pudding. This kit includes everything you need: simply head up the coconut milk and rice!

Edible Flower Petals | Italy

For centuries, edible flowers have made their way into the kitchen, Gathered in season and carefully dried to preserve their scent, these petals are a beautiful finishing touch. They add a light, floral note that elevantes any dish, from roasted meat to sweet pudding.

Dried Tamarind | Thailand

Tandy and fresh, these chunks of dried tamarind are mixed with brown sugar and subtle Thai spices. A popular snack in tropical climates for hundreds of years, these silvers have a delicious flavor combination of savory, sweet, and sour all at once.

Croquet Crackers | France

For six generations, Biscuiterie de Provence has been using recipes passed down from father to son. The family business first started by trading almonds, apricot kernels, and cherry tails. Today, the company remains faithful to their quality ingredients. These all-natural crackers are inspired by the regional flavors of southern France.

Black Olive Tapenade| France

Tapeno means caper, which gives tapenade its signature flavor. Mixed with black olives and anchovy paste, this one has a rich, deep flavor inspired by the Mediterranean. For over 20 years, Delices du Luberon has been committed to preserving Provencal gastronomy.

This months box had some amazingly delicious thing in there this time! There are so many great tasting product and things I would have never tried on my own. I’m a terrible cook, but have been watching those cooking competition shows lately – which makes me want to cook. Well, I must say, I’m glad I did. I love how everything arrived fresh and completely sealed. I find it’s always a surprise in every box. With this one I fell in love with the sticky rice treat from Thailand. I also really enjoyed mixing the croquet cracks with the black olive tapenade and the apply jelly. Delicious!!I love the product card that comes with it to guide you as to what the product is and sometimes it tells you how to use it. The booklet

Another thing I love about this company is that they provide a  product card that comes with it to guide you as to what the product is and tells you how to use it.

The box costs $49 and is not a subscription box. It’s just a limited edition box which can be purchased separately from the Try the World subscription. The 6-month plan is $35/per box or the yearly subscription is $33/per box. Each box is unique and interesting. While I’m not sure if I think the price is too high or reasonably priced (prices aren’t shown on the information card), I can say I really enjoy the box. I love what it offers and I love trying new things. Also, another thing I love about this company, that I discovered after trying my Japan box a while back, is that they DO have a store so I can purchase items I tried in my box. So if you find something you enjoy, you can get more!

**Disclaimer
Try The World works with artisanal producers from around the world, and therefore each box may be a little bit different. All boxes have a curated assortment of delicious and authentic gourmet products of similar value. When opening your Try The World box, you may be pleasantly surprised to discover different local flavors than the ones I have received! The card included in your box will guide you through your culinary adventure.
