I am a big Soda drinker. I’ve gotten better as two years ago, I could easily drink 3-4 cans or bottles a day. Last year I made a strong effort to reduce this to simply “one a day.” This year, my intention (yep, my favorite word this year) is to limit myself to one a week or less. Water needs to be my mainstay, but that’s been a hard transition. I long for just a hint of flavor. A friend recommended flavored water drops, so when I saw Dasani Drops had introduced two new flavors this year, I couldn’t resist but contact the Coca-Cola Company to do a review. They graciously provided a couple of samples in exchange for my honest review.
Plain water in an of itself is taking a bit to get use to, after all I am use to the super sugary sweetness of a soda. To help my transition, I infuse my water with a few drops of Dasani Drops each day and the transition has been easier. In some ways, this is really funny since the Dasani Drops are unsweetened. In some ways, the flavor seems to trick my taste buds into thinking it’s not just water that I am drinking.
Strawberry Basil and Lime are the newest additions to the DROPS family. These infusions are unsweetened with a touch of flavor and no color added. The strawberry basil is my favorite as I am not a huge lime fan, although I am warming up to it. The bottles are small at 1.9 fl oz, which is equivalent to 32 servings per container if you use 1/3 teaspoon. Here’s what I like, you can control the amount of flavor you want added to your water. If you just want a hint, add just a few drops. If you really need something stronger, give the bottle a good squeeze. Overall, I’m liking the addition of flavor to my water in my effort to reduce my soda intake. I see it this way, if it gets me drinking more water, it’s a winner in my book.
