If you’ve been following me ever since I started this blog, you’ll know that one of the makeup products that I cannot live without are eyeshadow palettes. I live for them. May it be drugstore, mid-range to high end, I’m down. Especially when they’re packed with my favorite shades! OMG! I die. That’s why when Cathy Doll came up with their newest collection, I’m like #SRSLYWTHINEEDTHOSERYTNOW. Kidding aside, I believe that by the time you finish reading this review, you’ll know what my thoughts are regarding this palette, so here you go…
Cathy Doll’s Nude Me Collection came with three palettes: 01 Nude, 02 Smoky and 03 Pink Champagne. Today, we’re going to review 01 Nude. I decided to review them separately rather than as a whole so that I can focus on each of their pros and cons.
The palette comes in a brown, plastic packaging with a see-through window, allowing you to see all of the shades. This is an advantage for me because it allows me to distinguish which palette is which aside from the obvious color theme (01 Nude is Brown, 02 Smoky is Grey, etc). The plastic is also sturdy so it wont easily break if you accidentally drop it. However, I will still handle it with care because you never know. The packaging also reminds me of the MUA palettes that was so in before. Comment down below if you have them!
Cathy Doll Nude Me Eyeshadow Palettes all comes in 12 shades. 01 Nude comes in 2 matte shades, 2 satin shades, 1 metallic then the rest are shimmery.
First Row – Here you can find both the matte shades and the metallic one (3rd, 5th and 6th shade). Unfortunately, the lighter shades aren’t too visible in my tskin tone and with my lighting, (natural + led) nothing really helps.
1st shade: Pale, nude shade with a satin finish. Has a decent pigmentation and excellent for brow bone or if you have fair skin, you can use this to set your entire lid after primer.
2nd shade: Light nude-ish pink shade with a shimmery finish. Texture is really unique as it feels creamy and kinda wet at the same time. The pigmentation is also nice.
3rd shade: Medium tan shade with a matte finish. It has a bit of a dryer texture hence, the pigmentation is so-so. But it shows up on your lids and it doesn’t have any problems blending.
4th shade: Light bronze with shimmery finish. Same texture as the 2nd shade.
5th shade: Darker than the 2nd shade. Same texture & pigmentation.
6th shade: Warm gold shade with a frosted metallic finish. Has a nice pigmentation as well.
Second Row – Here is where you can see the beauty of this palette. Majority of the shades in this row are shimmery (5 out of 6 shades) while one is satin. All of them have excellent pigmentation and they’re buttery smooth.
7th shade: Slightly dark bronze shade with a shimmery finish. Awesome pigmentation and creamy texture.
8th shade: Deep brown shade with a shimmery finish. Same pigmentation & feel as the previous shade.
9th shade: Light, old-rose shade with a shimmery finish. Decent pigmentation but the texture is a bit dry.
10th shade: Deep, dark chocolaty-brown shade with a shimmery finish. Same pigmentation and feel like the 7th & 8th shade.
11th shade: Dark gray satin shade with fine specs of silver glitter. Nice pigmentation and texture as well. I didn’t experience any fallouts with regards to the glitter.
12th shade: Mid-tone gray, gunmetal shade with a shimmery finish. Same pigmentation and feel like the 7th, 8th, and 10th shade.
As you can see, the entire palette offers a variety of neutrals and finishes to compliment your day to night look. All of the shades provide a decent pigmentation and a nice color payoff. The texture is definitely there, but it’s not as buttery smooth. They’re definitely workable and they’re very easy to blend.
I have been using this ever since I got it and so far I’m impressed with how long this eyeshadow lasted on me with and without a primer. Without a primer, this lasted on me for approximately eight hours. The shades aren’t that vibrant and there were some fading and creasing issues by the end of the day (I have oily lids) but I’ll take what I can get. With primer, it lasted on me more than eight hours (I stopped counting honestly) and it stayed vibrant until the end of the day, didn’t crease nor fade. I’m totally sold.
And yes, in case you’re wondering, the shades are pretty similar to the famous original Naked palette. In fact there are some shades that are spot on dupes. However, among all of the “dupes” that I have encountered, I actually like this the most. Because (a) the dupe shades, (b) the shades are a bit more pigmented, and (c) this palette is a lot more affordable than the others.
Overall, I highly recommend this palette. If you’re looking for a warm neutrals palette that wont burn a hole on your pocket (that rhymed, lol), then I suggest you check this out. Forget that this is a possible Naked palette dupe and take it for what it is. It is a beautiful palette that offers you a variety of warm, neutral tones with a couple of finishes allowing you to create a multitude of looks. If you’re a beginner when it comes to makeup and you just want to learn how to do a simple smoky eye, then this is your thing. You’re lucky because when I started, there’s not a lot of good palettes in the drugstore, unlike today.
