Our Week of Homeschool – Valentine’s Edition

Welcome to another week of Our Week of Homeschool. I will share some highlights of some of the things the kids are working on as well as some of the exciting things we did this week. This week went by really fast and I am really tired. I think the nice weather has been catching up with me.

Tuesday was Valentine’s Day. It was also my 16th Wedding Anniversary. We didn’t really do anything special as every where you go it is busy. So we made a special treat. We also had a meeting with a family advocate. We are setting up time to do a self advocacy course with my son for the Promise Grant he is on. Looking forward to seeing how the works out and how much he actually takes in.

Wednesday Brittany was suppose to start her cheer class, however we decided to wait until the next set of classes. She didn’t seem to disappointed as she knows she is going to take them.

Friday – We had a Valentine’s Day party for homeschoolers at the library. We started out making bags for our Valentine’s. Then the kids handed out Valentine’s.

Each family brought a bag of conversation hearts. Each child was asked how many hearts they thought they would use to build the tallest tower. The answers were a wide variety. If the tower fell your last piece of candy didn’t count. One gal had over 140 conversation hearts that she used. It turned out awesome. Each child had a different idea. None were really the same. It was nice to see the creativity and thinking skills they used to build.

The kids also decorated sugar cookies. They were heart and lip shaped. The kids had a blast decorating the cookies. Some dumped almost a whole bottle of sugar sprinkles on one cookie. It actually was kind of funny. It was fun just letting them do what they wanted with the cookies.

Then we hurried home and made bean dip and headed out to game night at church. It was a fun night of games. The kids had fun playing as well.

Saturday we did a little shopping and then went to a Birthday party.

Sunday – It was a gorgeous day outside. I decided to take a walk on the boardwalk. It wasn’t to cold or to warm. It was perfect. I will enjoy the next couple days before the temps drop back down to winter chills.

Hope you all have a great week!!
