Matthew’s Psoriasis Journey

This shop has been compensated by Inmar, Inc. and Ortho Dermatologics. I am working with the makers of DUOBRII ® (halobetasol propionate and tazarotene) Lotion, 0.01%/0.045%, in 2021. All opinions are mine alone. #ad #TryDuobrii #DUOBRII

It started on his head, in his scalp. Dry skin is what we thought and I bought soothing shampoos and conditioners. Later he noticed red patches on his elbows and knees, he thought it was simply a rash. Maybe we switched laundry detergent or something from the garden brushed up against his skin. When it didn’t go away with over the counter lotions and creams, he decided to get medical help.

My sweetheart Matthew has plaque psoriasis. What is plaque psoriasis? Simply put, it’s a buildup of skin cells that form scales and itchy, dry patches. It’s a chronic autoimmune skin disease that speeds up the growth cycle of skin cells.

Matt has tried many things, he’s bought all of the books on nutrition and using probiotics to solve this. He even drank the celery juice for weeks, yuck. He tried salt and light therapy. We have a cabinet full of essential oils all recommended for skin health. The only thing that has worked for him has been a dermatologist recommended topical treatment. Yes eating healthy and getting some sunlight is good for you, but this is serious and requires medical intervention by an expert.

We live on the beach, we wear bikinis and board shorts all summer. Before Matt visited his dermatologist, he covered up. He wore jeans and long sleeved tees in 100 degree South Carolina weather. It’s an embarrassing condition. Our boys love to swim, he was too embarrassed to wear a bathing suit and get in the ocean with them. This was terrible for him, but since treatment he has gotten his swagger back. He even rocks the matching board shorts with the boys!

Try all of the natural remedies, I love when natural remedies work. I love that a shot of apple cider vinegar can calm heartburn. If it doesn’t work, don’t be afraid to call your doctor or get a referral to see a dermatologist. Ask about topical prescriptions. Ask about Duobrii Lotion, a prescription treatment for adults with plaque psoriasis from Ortho Dermatologics.

Here’s some medical information I found about Duobrii Lotion. Research it and ask your doctor if it’s right for you! It’s a moisturizing lotion that you rub on your psoriasis plaques once a day (as long as well tolerated) until your psoriasis plaques are under control, it’s non greasy. The strong anti-inflammatory agent (halobetasol propionate) works to clear plaques, while the retinoid tazarotene (a Vitamin A derivative) helps extend the clearing process even after stopping treatment.

DUOBRII Lotion is the first-of-its-kind, it is made of two well-known ingredients that work together to treat plaque psoriasis. Each ingredient reduces the side effects of the other.

Please talk to your doctor if you experience side effects with this lotion, or any other prescription.

DUOBRII Lotion is a treatment that keeps on working even after you stop using it. Clear skin is possible in less than 8 weeks. Some patients achieved clear or almost clear skin by 2, 4, or 6 weeks. Over 40% of patients had clear or almost clear skin at 8 weeks across 2 clinical studies!

Cost-because that’s super important: most eligible commercially insured patients pay as little as a $25 co-pay. For eligible patients whose commercial insurance does not cover DUOBRII Lotion, patients will pay as little as a $65 co- pay.

Psoriasis is awful. There are treatment options available, please don’t cover up. Get clear and go to the beach and enjoy it. It’s 2021, we need to enjoy life more!

This was a partnership with DUOBRII Lotion but all opinions are my own. Also, I got Matt’s permission to talk about his skin. He just wants other people to get help too!

DUOBRII Lotion should not be used during pregnancy. *Individual results may vary. *Available by prescription only.
