Whole Fruit & Fairy Bread

Fairy Bread

Come up here, O dusty feet!

Here is fairy bread to eat.

Here in my retiring room,

Children, you may dine

On the golden smell of broom

     And the shade of pine;

And when you have eaten well,

Fairy stories hear and tell.

From Child’s Garden of Verses  by Robert Louis Stevenson

I write often on the health benefits of fruits and vegetables, but mostly fruits because I Love Fruit.  I’ve always had a sweet tooth and fruit is such a healthy way to satisfy those cravings.  Fruits also help keep you hydrated, have impressive phytonutrients, and are generally low in calories. So I was super excited when Whole Fruits approached me to work together.

As a healthy mom blog, it’s not always easy finding partners with products that I want to promote and tell y’all about.  Whole Fruits Frozen Bars are different, I want to shout from the rooftops how awesome they are.   My kids love them (Mango and Watermelon).  My husband loves them (Coconut). I love them (Strawberry).  Even our dog loves to lick the sticky boys after they eat them – so it’s safe to say my dog loves them too.  But almost more importantly, I feel good about giving them to my family.   Whole Fruit Frozen Bars are made from Fruit, they even use fruit and vegetable juice to make them bright pretty colors.

August is the hottest month where I live, frozen treats are essential to fun summer evenings.  But it’s hard to always bring frozen treats places, to the beach, pool, park – they melt so quickly.  So I did some fun experimenting and found a fun way to enjoy Whole Fruits Fruit Bars without them melting.

Australians have a treat called fairy bread that they serve at birthday parties and for special occasions. It’s been a tradition there since the 1800s.  The first mention of Fairy Bread is in a children’s poetry book called A Child’s Garden of Verses.  It’s basically white bread with different types of sprinkles.  It looks so fun, but definitely a dentist’s worst nightmare.  You should look up the hashtag #fairybread on instagram.  It’s so fun and colorful.   So I decided to make a fun healthier Whole Fruit version of Fairy Bread and I’ve got it down to the perfect ratio!

Whole Fruit Fairy Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

4 Whole Fruit Frozen Bars

1 ½ Cups of Cake Flour (a white cake mix would be yummy too)

Sprinkles

Simple Instructions:  Let the Frozen Bars Melt.  Then mix in the flour and sprinkles.  Bake in a loaf pan for 45 minutes at 350F.  I test with a skewer and when it comes out clean, it’s ready.  Then cool and slice.  Your kids will love it.  It’s so moist and your house will smell so good while it’s baking.

Whole Fruit is our go-to treat for our entire family.  It’s made of chunks of whole fruit.  We love all of the flavors, strawberry, coconut, black cherry, mango, watermelon and more.

This post was sponsored by Whole Fruits, but as always all opinions are my own.   I found Whole Fruits Frozen Bars at my local Publix, but they have a Where to Buy tool on their website. There is also a coupon over there to save money
