No-one’s perfect. We all have Bad Habits, things that we wish we could put behind us. The problem with many of these bad habits is that they only impact our lives marginally, not quite enough to really take seriously. A mild tendency towards procrastination is annoying, sure, but it’s not going to derail our lives too much. But then there are the other bad habits, the ones that can impact our lives. So what will future generations say about us? Most likely, it’ll be that we’re far too sedentary. We’re just always sitting down, and that can have serious long-term consequences for our health. So what can we do? It’s pretty simple — stand up and get moving more often. Even a little bit of exercise, such as a brisk thirty minute walk, can do wonders for our health. Nightly Drinking Just because something is socially acceptable, that doesn’t mean that it’s good for us. Here in the UK, many people drink more than they should — and this has only gotten worse since the coronavirus pandemic began. Alas, while the odd tipple isn’t going to do too much harm, there’s no avoiding the fact that alcohol is a poison that will impact your health. While it can be difficult to give up, the lockdown is actually a good time to get started, since no pubs are open. You’ll begin to feel the positive impact of your decision within a few days — and it’ll only get better from there. Smoking Tobacco The health risks of smoking are well understood, yet that hasn’t been enough to get people to quit. It’s not that they don’t want to quit — the issue is that tobacco contains nicotine, which is addictive. Fortunately, there are things you can do to put the habit behind you.
