Free Home Depot Workshops for Kids

I got a neat homemade Valentine this year thanks to Home Depot and their free DIY workshops for kids! On the first Saturday each month, usually starting around 9 AM, Home Depot stores around the country offer a free building workshop for kids. In addition to their building materials, they also get an official orange kid-size Home Depot apron, a certificate of achievement and a commemorative pin.

I’ve actually been meaning to check this out for a while but my son wasn’t quite ready yet. Now that he’s almost four, he’s the perfect age to give it a try. I had forgotten about the workshops until a Saturday morning trip to Home Depot with dad seemed to be taking quite a long time and suddenly I got these pictures on my phone:

Seems they had stumbled right into a workshop filled with kids and there was space open to join! They do recommend you register on the website because space can fill up fast and supplies are limited. The classes start at 9AM, but you can drop in anytime during the class hours.

Just go to this link to find a workshop near you: Home Depot Workshops

Then find your closest store and scroll through the list of available workshops. They have free ones for adults too! The next one coming up in our area is March 2, from 9AM – 12PM and the kids will be building a freestanding clock with movable hands and a storage tray for trinkets.

The day they were there they were making heart shaped boxes for Valentine’s Day and it made the perfect gift box.

So be sure to stop by Home Depot on the first Saturday of the month and check out this fun and FREE program for kids!
