Felt Succulents- Brown Thumbs Rejoice!

I might have made some pretty cool things, and I may have a lovely garden, but I have many friends who cannot keep the weeds growing, let along a garden. I am here to rescue those people with felt Succulents. No green thumb required.

There are so many things you can do with felt succulents!
This is what you can do with your felt succulents!

You can make them and forget about them like you do with every single potted plant you have ever had. Hey, no judgment here.

Making Felt Succulents

These things are so fun to make. And really simple too! All you need is a little felt, hot glue, and eyeshadow.

PRO TIP

I have learned that eyeshadow (loose, not compact) makes a great highlight/lowlight. Just dust where you see fit. ( For this I used L.A. Colors Purple loose shadow.) You can find this color and many more at your local Dollar Tree!

Great news, you can get all of these things at your local Dollar Tree (minus the actual hot glue gun, although they do carry glue sticks 🙂 )

I have included my pdf file of the shape of each petal along with how many you need for each of your felt succulents! (By signing up for email updates, you get this plus access to the new free party resource library full of great party goods!)

Why I Choose Felt Succulents

I choose felt because it is readily available in a huge range of colors and there is SO much you can do with it. I adore succulents so any chance I get to incorporate them into my designs, I take. Plus, I am lazy and a little too frugal. Those beautiful strange looking plants are NOT cheap! Felt succulents are!

Flat felt succulents are so beautiful!

Things To Remember

If there is anything to take away from each and every one of my tutorials is that life is not perfect. This is especially true for mother nature. Please do not stress when you are making these felt succulents. If your cut is a touch jagged, remember that some succulents do not have smooth petals, but rather rough. If some of your felt cutouts are a little wonky, well take a walk outside and notice each imperfection on a nearby plant. Then stand back and look at the whole thing. Beautiful, despite that flaw.

Your crafts are exactly like that.

Make Your Succulents

The basic instructions are to cut a small circle out of felt and as many “petals” as you need(use the same color as the leaves you are going to use) and glue the petals around the circumference, continuing to the center of the succulent. Use larger petals for the outside petals, and make them smaller towards the center.

Now that you have made your succulents, what will you do with them?

Heres a list of ways you could use your new succulents that won’t die on you:

No maintenance window garden

“Potted Plant” housewarming gift

Fairy garden plants

Pen toppers for the office

Sell them!

Always in season wreath

Rock garden decor

Headbands

Bag embellishments

Add some adorable felt succulent vines to your next project

As you can see, there are so many possibilities to use your new felt succulents. So tell me, what will you use these for? Are you going to make an always in season wreath? Have a look at mine. The total time spent was 2 evenings after the kids went to bed. I worked while I chatted with Matt, caught up on my Netflix shows, and surfed Pinterest. If I had dedicated my attention to only making these, it would have taken around 2 hours, from making the felt succulents to building the wreath.

Because I have saved a ton of money on these things, I want you to also enjoy them. That means that this project is suitable for anyone. Including children. Caution though, please supervise children when working with hot glue. It seriously burns. Trust me.
