I love the holidays. Whether it is decorating the Christmas tree, or driving around town trying to find the house with the best Christmas lights, this time of year makes me the happiest. I love the sparkle and imagination that comes alive with the holidays. Today I am going to show you how to turn boring (but adorable) white window clings into a work of art. We will be making Christmas Memories along with beautiful window art! The best part is that this project only calls for 2 items.

For this project you will only need two things:
These Window Clings by JollyLife on Amazon. I love them and have ordered a few things from them.
Puffy Paint (I used Scribbles, but I imagine that any will work)
Making Christmas Memories The Old Fashioned Way
Back when I was young, Right after Thanksgiving the Holiday festivities would begin at my grandmother’s house. She would pull out the little tree for inside the house (the one no one dared to touch) and had a real one brought in from one of my uncles. That tree was so big and every year I would go to her house to decorate the tree, drink cocoa and listen to Christmas carols. It was and has always been my favorite time of year. We made memories the old-fashioned way; we spent time together, without using our phones. We didn’t bicker either because we knew grannie had the elves upstairs.
Upstairs lived Santas elves, reading things for the upcoming main event. She told us that if we peeked we would get coal in our stocking. For further effect, my oldest cousin was roped into pretending to have gone upstairs. She got coal that year and it worked like a charm.
Make your own window clings!
I got these window clings because of how many come in a package. I honestly thought I was getting all snowflakes but was so VERY happy to see that it has other shapes such as bells and a little reindeer! They are so adorable but very plain. All you need to spice them up a bit is a touch of puffy paint. This is even a craft that requires very little assistance for school-aged children, Just trace the white parts of the window cling and let dry.
PRO TIP:
Puffy paint takes forever to dry. Work in thin light strokes to keep the paint even and allow for faster dry time.
Displaying your beautiful Christmas Memories
After your paint has dried fully, just peel the cling from the backing. Make sure your window or glass is clean before you try to attach the window cling. I have noticed that the clings seem to adhere better with the puffy paint than without. My theory is that it provides more weight to the cling, but don’t quote me on that!
PRO TIP:
Don’t forget, the paint must be fully dry before you even remove it from the window cling backing. If not your pretty painting will smear, leaving you with a hot mess on your hands. Like paint everywhere. Just trust me on this one, ok?
I really loved how easy and beautiful this little craft project is. After it dries and is put on glass, it looks like little paintings on the windows and doors. And because the package is so large and has so many different clings, there are plenty to choose from and enough for the whole family! Making Christmas memories the old-fashioned way never looked so beautiful for such little effort!
