Are all male dogs stubborn, or just mine? I love my boys, but they can be so hard to train. Because of the breed that Buster is, He HAS to listen. There can be no running off and doing his own thing. (Natas and Sissy are free range dogs) and he has to be recall trained. He is over a year old now, which means that male instinct is fully set in. He is the Alpha Male. He needed a Training Collar.
Training Collar for an Alpha
The trouble started a few months ago. When he caught wind of his first deer. He had no idea what it was, and I had zero control over him. I started searching for alternative methods, and Buddy Trainer caught my eye. It’s a remote collar used for correcting bad behavior IN THE ACT. I am so glad that I got a chance to test it for the company. In less than one month, Buster is a new dog.

What’s Inside The Box?
When UPS showed up at my house to deliver this training collar, I was surprised by the size of the box. Inside you will find a nylon collar, the training device, one charger, one remote, testing supplies and the user manual. Your training collar comes pre-charged. The training collar comes set with 3 training functions, vibrate, shock, call, and a light.
We started training with the collar as soon as we got it out of the box and read the manual. Let me state right now and clear the air before it gets muddled with confusion: We have only used the shock feature two times. One time he took off after a person walking down the road, and another when he tried to eat a cat. Don’t worry, the cat is fine.
One warning to users: you can change the channel on the training collar’s remote VERY easy. Please be mindful of finger and hand placement. The image above shows the button to change channels.
A Better Behaved Dog
Buster now recalls when needed, and does not try to leave the yard. Sometimes he forgets that he is confined to the yard. When that happens, we just tap the call button. It reaches out 330 yards, which is more than enough room for him. I used to hate taking him out at night because he would disappear and I would have to spend the next 15 minutes calling for him. Now, when I hit the recall button (it’s a beep, but it works as a call button or locater) his training collar lights up with green and red. It’s FANTASTIC!
In less than three weeks, my naughty pit is now a curious pit with limitations. He knows that if he hits the pavement, he will hear a callback. If he does not respond to the call, I tap the vibrate button. Again, we have only utilized the shock feature on his training collar two times, and that was after many voice commands, as well as two calls and a few vibrates. Both times stopped him in his tracks and he quickly retreated. The training collar is not meant as a discipline tool. It is a correction tool. You can only correct inappropriate behavior (such as chasing a deer) if you catch the animal in the act. Please never use a training collar for discipline purposes.
