Chicken Manchurian


Chicken Manchurian is a popular Chinese Chicken starter. The fried chicken pieces are immersed in the spicy and tangy thick sauce. The recipe almost resembles chicken chilly; but the main difference between both is that, chicken manchurian uses chicken stock water for making sauce and it makes the lot difference in taste. Even though it is a pure Chinese recipe; here is a version of Indian style chicken manchurian.
Ingredients For  Chicken Marination:
  1. Chicken boneless- 1/2 kg.
  2. Egg-1 large
  3. Corn Flour-2 1/2 tbsp
  4. Flour / maida-2 tbsp
  5. Pepper powder-1 tsp
  6. Vinegar-1 tsp
  7. Soya Sauce-1 tbsp
  8. Kashmiri chilly powder-1 tbsp
  9. Salt-to taste
  10. Oil-for frying
For the Sauce:
  1. Sugar- 1/4 tsp
  2. Thinly chopped ginger-2 tbsp
  3. Thinly chopped garlic-2 tbsp
  4. Thinly chopped green chilly-1 tbsp
  5. Onion cubed-1 medium
  6. capsicum cubed-1 small
  7. Kashmiri chilly powder-1 tbsp
  8. Chicken stock water-1 cup
  9. Water- 1/4 cup
  10. Soya sauce-1  1/2  tbsp
  11. Chilly sauce-1 1/2  tbsp
  12. Tomato sauce-2 1/2 tbsp
  13. salt-little
  14. Vinegar-1 tsp
  15. Corn Flour-1 tbsp
  16. Spring onion chopped- 2 tbsp
  17. Coriander leaves chopped-2 tbsp
Preparation:
  • Combine all the ingredients for chicken marination (except oil) and make a thick batter with it (if need add little water). Add the cubed chicken pieces in to it and let  rest for one hour in fridge.
  • Fry these chicken pieces in hot oil on medium flame until just golden in colour (don't do over fry, then the chicken pieces will get hard).
  • Drain it and keep aside.
  • Heat two tablespoons of oil from the chicken fried oil, Add sugar and when its get browned add thinly chopped ginger and garlic; saute until nice golden in color.
  • Add green chilly and saute for another a minute.
  • Add cubed onion and capsicum, saute for two minutes.
  • Add kashmiri chilly powder; saute for a minute.
  • Add all the sauces, vinegar and chicken stock water.
  • When it boils add water by diluting with corn flour.
  • Add little salt and stir cook for two minutes.
  • Add fried chicken pieces and spring onion chopped; mix well for a  minute and switch off the flame.
  • Sprinkle coriander leaves on top and serve hot!!!!
