The street food of Northern India is yumlious you just can’t miss it. If you are in old Delhi you just can’t miss the street food .The streets of old Delhi are filled with aroma of food. The by lanes or galis of chandini chowk are packed with Chaat , namkeenwallas , halwais and paranthewallahs. The paranthewali gali is a narrow by lane in delhi 6 and there are end number of shops selling varieties of parantha. Starting from aloo , gobhi , matar , tamatar , kaju , almond , methi , palak , payaz , paneer these are few you name them and they have it. Gol gappe or pani puri or pani ke batase or phucka is a popular street snack of India it is very small size puris filled with stuffing of boiled potato or boiled gram with tangy water. You can’t resist the taste of these puris they are spicy and will give you a burst of flavours.
Pav Bhaji- it is a Maharastrian cuisine and it is one of my favorite . It is very simple to cook ,the basic ingredient for bhaji include boiled mashed potato with different vegetables, slices of tomato , with butter and optional toppings of cheese. Pav is the bread which is served as warm or fried in butter the word pav bhaji has an interesting history the word pav has originated from the Portuguese word and bhaji is a Marathi word. It is one of the very well known Indian fast food snack and street food. Pav bhaji is a spicy food. it is served with slices of onion, tomato and dice of lemon.
The preparation of pav bhaji varies in different state the best pav bhaji i have ever eaten is in delhi the bhaji was filled with spices it was tangy , spicy what we call as chatpata on top of bhaji there was a layer of chutney which was made of coriander, green chili, garlic and tamarind with chopped onion and tomato . it was very yummy and heavenly tasted.
The chaat of Delhi is an ultimate delight as there are varieties of chaats starting from samosa chaat , papri chaat, aloo chaat, aloo tikki chaat , fruit chaat and it goes on .
