Easter Sunday was spent with friends. Serena came for brunch and I put together a little feast to start our Easter celebrations. I made a plum compote to have with some Primrose Kitchen beetroot and ginger muesli and natural yoghurt. We also had Hot Cross Buns with various jams, marmalades and goats cheese tart. It was a help yourself affair. We all helped ourselves to whatever we fancied. We had tea from my rather wonderful Melli Mello teapot and juice that I had picked up at The Good Life Farm Shop when visiting family in Hampshire.

We managed to get out for a walk before the heavens opened. A loop of the Quay was just what we needed to work off those Hot Cross buns!

Dan and Billy came for dinner on Easter Sunday evening. I had spent much of the afternoon cooking up treats from my Veg In A Box delivery. We had a mushroom and Sharpham Rustic cheese frittata, roasted sweet potato and parsnips and a mint pesto potato salad. I also whisked up a salad with avocado, pear and walnuts. Delicious!

Bank Holiday Monday was a pretty wet and windy one but that didn’t stop Steve and I walking up to Magdalen Road to the Magdalen Road Bakery. I wanted to pick up some yummy sourdough but I also thought it would do us good to take the short walk there and take in some fresh air. Knowing that there is a good cup of tea or coffee at the end is always a bonus.

Bank Holiday Monday evening was a quiet one. We had had a late night entertaining when Dan and Billy came for dinner. I didn’t crawl into bed until 3.15am! I put together a cheese board so we could nibble whilst watching television in our pyjamas. It was just what we needed after such a late night. 

I have a little trip to Sicily planned for this weekend so as you read this today I should hopefully be enjoying some better weather alongside some yummy Italian food and wine. I can’t wait to tell you all about my adventures and what foodie heaven I come across. I am particularly excited to sample proper Italian gelato once more.. Yum!
