‘BREATHE RIGHT’ BATH

Being back at school after having a break has a lot of benefits for me. I always do best when I have a schedule or routine of some sort. Not only in terms of school but with life in general. I am able to focus and be a lot more productive when I have specific time blocks. If I just have an entire day free and no regular schedule, I get thrown all out of sorts and become fairly stressed about not having a plan. Which may seem very strange for people who know my personality.

But being back amongst the masses also has its negatives. As in I am once again in close confined spaces with the same people four days a week from sunrise to sunset. So, it goes without saying, if one of us get sick in any way, it’s almost guaranteed that everyone else is going to catch it.

This weeks sickness of choice has basically been any and everything phlegm. Nose Congestion, lung congestion, and just good old phlegmy throat.

It’s been as bad as a kindergarten classroom every day.

Snot everywhere.

It’s not so much the snot that gets to me (although gross) but the inability to breathe when you get all congested up. It makes everyday tasks some of the most difficult things in the world and leaves you feeling like you just ran a marathon after only climbing a set of stairs.

But instead of knocking myself out with loads of different drugs while trying to clear this out of my system, I have been taking baths every single day. Not only is this amazing after coming home from the sub-zero temperatures outside, but with a few basic essential oils, Epsom salts, and some baking soda I have been able to clear out a lot of my congestion, both nose and lungs, so I am actually able to breathe and get to sleep at night.

YOU WILL NEED:

GINGER for its decongestive properties and it’s ability to aid in soothing cold/flu, sinusitis, laryngitis symptoms and feelings of nausea.

EUCALYPTUS for its antiviral and antibacterial qualities as well as its amazing benefits for the respiratory system and conditions that affect it including asthma, congestion, sinusitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia.

DOUGLAS FIR for its antiseptic and antimicrobial qualities, its ability to clear out congestion and other sinus issues in addition to helping clear mental fog and low energy that often comes with a cold.

CARDAMOM for its decongestive ability, aiding in mental fatigue and confusion as well as helping maintain an emotional balance.
