Poor Man Diffusor

It has officially happened. The spirit of October has gotten to me. My entire bathroom has become its own little Pumpkin Spice purgatory. And not by my choice either. I have been using fall scrubs and the like, but while I was moving some things around I dropped a pumpkin spice mixture and it completely shattered. Pumpkin spice is everywhere! BOY, IS IT POTENT! I know essential oils are strong but this takes things to a whole other level.

I have been airing out the room for a couple of days and I think I may finally be getting back to some semblance of a manageable smell. Besides opening the windows, the other thing that helped was my diffusor. I would place it in my bathroom and let it run with a lemon oil or a purifying one and that helped to lessen the scent a lot.

But I know some of you don’t have diffusers at home so I decided to come up with my own version of a poor man’s diffusor. It will not have the exact same effect as any kind of diffusor has because most run for extended periods of time. So unless you have a spare person willing to stand in the corner with a Spray Bottle for a couple of hours, it is just not reasonable to expect the same thing.

However, that being said, you can make an amazing room spray/diffuser hybrid. You Spray it anytime your room needs a little pick me up or be like one of those automated sprayers and spray it everytime someone walks into the room, which is always pleasant.

Surprisingly, making a spray bottle with essential oils that worked  was a lot more challenging than I had originally anticipated. I wasn’t thinking when I originally planned out this post and didn’t remember how water and oil separate pretty quickly when combined, making my original ideas pretty much only spraying water for most of the time.

So I took to combining different things into the spray bottle with the oils and water. The hardest part was choosing something that would not affect the smell or mess with fabrics in any way shape or form. Straight up oil and oil… not my most shining innovative moment.

You wouldn’t believe how many trial and errors I had before I finally landed on this recipe. It took a large chunk of time just to figure this out. Most of the time was spent rinsing out bottles to make sure nothing was left over. If you are going to make your own spray I recommend using a cheaper oil or simply a little olive oil to test it out so you do not waste quality oil on a test run. You will thank me if you have to make the mixture more than once.
