Sol & Luna: Latin-European Flair Within A Lush Garden 100m In The Sky

Perched 100 metres up on Singapore’s latest 51-storey skyscraper CapitaSpring (a new high-rise icon in the central business district), Sol & Luna is a Latin-European bistro nestled within the building’s 43-000 sq-ft Green Oasis, a unique sanctuary-in-the-sky of lush greenery. Indeed, a sanctuary as I do foresee myself heading back often to escape the busy life in the city.

From morning to night, Sol & Luna offers an all-day menu showcasing four cuisines of Italy, France, Portugal and Spain. We visited on a Saturday morning for brunch.

We dove right into a sumptuous Italian-style breakfast featuring Salsiccia sausage, crispy guanciale (bacon), grilled Roma tomato, sautéed portobello mushroom, avocado grilled over lava stone, toasted sourdough and eggs (poached, sunny side up or scrambled).
Another brunch item that we tried was the Croque Monsieur Sourdough ($18).  Sourdough bread is layered with Jambon ham, Gruyere cheese, Parmasan cheese and béchamel.  Get this if you are a fan of cheese.
As an appetiser, we had the Grilled Tomino Cheese ($22).  Tomino cheese is wrapped in parma ham, then seared on a plancha and finished in the wood fired oven.  Acacia honey is then drizzled and freshly cracked black pepper added as finishing touches.
Sol & Lunas Italian side is also showcased through its pastas.  We tried the House Made Spaghetti ‘Aglio Olio’ ($22) with a touch of butter that helps to emulsify the “aglio olio” sauce but not leaving a pool of residual oil.  Instead, it helps to coat the pasta evenly with sliced roasted garlic, italian parsley, chilli padi and stock.  We wished that there was a little more stock for a stronger flavour.
I love the “Apple Pie Croissant” ($10) and will be back just to have this delectable pastry again.  Featuring apple confit in sugar, vanilla and cinnamon, creme patisserie is spread onto a halved buttered croissant.  Did anyone say sugar, spice, anything nice?
Another dessert that I recommend is also the Chestnut Mandarin Mont Blanc ($13).  A contemporary interpretation of a classic tart, mandarin jelly is added for a refreshing note and yet complementing the rich, sweetened chestnut purée.

Budget per person: $25 – 35
