Tian Fu Tea House | Reunion Imperial High Tea @ Top of UOB Plaza

Since tighter restrictions have been announced last week and thus fewer visitations all around, why not consider an afternoon hideout at Tian Fu Tea House (either at Top of UOB Plaza and Parkroyal Beach Road) as an alternative to ringing in the festivities?

Warm your bellies by choosing from one of four chinese teas – Meng Ding Huang Ya (蒙顶黄芽), Da Hong Pao (大红袍), Aged Pu’er (陈年普洱) and Yunnan Dian Hong (云南滇红).  We chose Meng Ding Huang Ya, a yellow tea that originates from Ya’an of Sichuan Province.  The tea was light on the palette.
Exclusive to the Top of UOB Outlet is this Ginseng Cocktail.  Ginseng is infused in gin for 24 hours to derive its distinctive medicinal undertone then perfectly balanced with refreshing ginger beer.  The drink is presented elegantly in a transparent chinese teacup, garnished with ginseng root and a slice of ginger.  Psst we recommend having your afternoon tea at the UOB Outlet ($58 per person) because of this excellent cocktail (also because I’m a fan of ginseng) and bonus points for the view!

A mocktail will be served in its place at Beach Road ($48 per person).
You can’t miss out on yusheng during this period and Tian Fu Tea Room would portion on individual portions of yusheng so you can lo hei in peace.
Next up, five delicate dim sum will be served to you in a pretty wooden and brass stand.  They comprise of steamed prawn dumpling with seamoss (we could all do with the extra 发), steamed crystal vegetable dumpling with black truffle and steamed abalone dumpling.  There are also 2 pan-fried items: beef bun with celery (生煎包) and pan-fried chives dumpling.

My personal favourite is the crystal vegetable dumpling with black truffle.
A hearty portion of fragrance wax meat rice (腊味饭) is served with strips of omelette adorned.
This lunar new year, Master Dim Sum Chef Peng Yi Chun brings the nian gao game to the next level (an in line with the ox year no less!) with this multi layered Durian New Year Cake (榴莲年糕).  Durian custard and nian gao is layered one by one and chilled to set its shape.  Does this not remind you of the nine-layered cake (九层糕) too?

This nian gao is also available for dine-in and takeaway at all outlets during this festive season.
Finally, finish the afternoon tea off with Si Chuan Douhua’s signature homemade fine bean-curd (with bird’s nest).  The beancurd is very smooth it slithers down your throat and a wonderful note to end on.

Note that this High Tea menu is available from 2.30pm to 6.30pm daily, from 1 February 2021 to 28 February 2021.

Budget: $48++ to $58++ per person
