These Delights Soothes His Taste Buds-Narendra Modi’s Favorite Foods

I live simple, I eat simple & dress simple. It’s another thing that my simplicity has turned into fashion for some! – Narendra Modi 

Nation’s heart-throb, a big enemy of Black Money holders and Honorable Prime Minister of common Indians, Mr. Narendra Modi believes in simplicity. Being one of the most searched men on Google, Mr. Modi has created a revolution in India by banning higher denomination Indian currencies of Rs 500 and Rs. 1000, thus taking a major step to improve the financial system of India. Well, hats off to our P.M. because to do this, one really needs a 56 inches chest. :)

Now, here’s what your foodie friend have for you. If you are a fan of our P.M., you will love to know what are the foods that he loves to eat. (I can’t think beyond foods and writing ). In one of his interviews, Mr. Modi said,

For over 35 years I had to seek food and ate wherever I go I never asked people to make something special for me. I like Khichdi very much. But then, I eat whatever I get. I want my health to be such that it won’t be a burden for the nation. Till my last breath, I want to remain a healthy human being.

All the healthy vegetarian foods (Narendra Modi is a pure vegetarian) that our lovable P.M loves to eat is prepared by his personal cook Badri Meena, who accompanies him wherever he goes.

Vaghareli Khichdi

Vaghareli Khichdi, also known as Masala Khichdi is a very healthy cum nutritious meal made of rice and lentil (Masoor). Spiced up with few spices and choice of vegetables, it is easy to digest food, served with simple Kadhi.

Made by using gram flour and curd, Khandvi is a traditional Gujarati snack that is enough to sooth your appetite. The Khandvi rolls are garnished with asafoetida (Hing), sesame seeds, cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves, chilies and crushed coconut. It is difficult to prepare it but its soothing taste makeover for all the patience and hard work.

Bhindi Kadhi

Bhindi Kadhi (Ladyfinger Curry/Kadhi) also known as Dahi-Bhindi Kadhi  is a Gujarati delicacy prepared using yogurt and gram flour (Besan). Seasoned with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and cumin seeds, it is a yogurt stew cooked with ladyfingers. It is one of the healthy and easy to digest food that our dear P.M. loves to eat with chapatis or rice.

White Khatta Dhokla

Oh, Dhokla! One of my favorite snacks. When I hear the word Dhokla I can’t stop myself having few. This spongy and bit sour Gujarati snack prepared from fermented and steamed rice is best to soothe your taste buds.This delicacy when lightly spiced with sesame seeds, green chilies and ginger add up to its taste.

Surti Undhiyu

Hailing from Surat in Gujarat, Surti Undhiyu is made from different types of vegetables and fenugreek (Methi) dumpling and cooked with Indian spices. This dish is mainly eaten in winter and is served with chapatis or puris along with Jalebi or Shrikhand.

Shrikhand is a typical Indian sweet made of hung curd mixed with various fruits, sugar powder, saffron, and cardamom, garnished with varieties of dry fruits. It can be found in almost all the sweet shops in Indian cities.

Sweet Mango Pickle

One of the most liked pickles, sweet mango pickle or Aam ka meetha achar is generally served with meals and is made by simmering diced raw mangoes in sugar syrup with garlic, cloves, bay leaves, pepper,fennel seeds and red chili powder. To add up to the perfection in this digestive delight, it is kept in sun for twenty to thirty days.

So, guys, these are some of the most liked foods by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Have you noticed one thing? All these foods are made using basic ingredients that can be found in any grocery shops in India and are available in all small Indian restaurants or food stalls. Isn’t it really cool? You don’t have to visit big restaurants to taste these foods.

Truly speaking, whenever I write about foods my mouth starts salivating and my tummy says “I am hungry”. Before it goes beyond the limits, I should go and have one of the above as my lunch.
