Neer Dosa Recipe

Neer Dosa is a rice crepe served for breakfast with chutney. I’m sharing a recipe today with a video to make Neer dosa at home. Neer means water. The batter is so watery which makes the dosa thin and lacy.

Check out the Neer Dosa Recipe video:

The best part about this dosa is that the batter doesn’t need any fermentation. You can start making Neer dosa immediately. I have served with chutney but you enjoy it simply with some coconut milk and jaggery too. Click here to check out chutney recipes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Raw Rice
  • 1/2 cup freshly dessicated coconut
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tsp Salt

Instructions

  • Clean rice nicely in wtaer and soak it for minimum 4-5 hours.
  • Drain the water and grind it with 1 cup of water and coconut to make smooth batter.
  • Add 3 more cups of water to the batter. The batter should be of running consistency.
  • Add salt and mix well.
  • Heat the griddle or tawa. Add few drops of oil. Check if the griddle is ready by sprinkling little water. If it gives an oozing sound, then the griddle is ready.
  • Scoop a laddle full of batter and pour it over the griddle and immediately spread it in circular motion to make a round shape dosa.
  • Cook it on lor or medium flame for a minute.
  • Fold the dosa and serve with chutney.

Notes

  1. Use ponni or sona masuri raw rice for best results.
  2. You can avoid adding coconut too.
  3. Do not drizzle oil to cook these dosas.
  4. NO need to keep dosa batter for fermentation.
