El Goucho, A piece of Argentina in Bangkok

What's popular in Argentina? OK, football, but besides that? Nope, I don't know either. So when we spotted El Goucho while walking along Sukumvit, we decided to find out! But, and this is a big but, go there when you're really hungry. We had a heavy lunch and an early dinner wasn't the best way to explore El Goucho, but we did get a glimpse!

While we waited for our rib eyed fillet steak, the smell of fresh bread arrived at our table. With the classic half cut garlic and butter with the crusty bread staring at us, who cared that we weren't very hungry in the first place!?! We went straight for the bread, loaded it with butter and garlic and a little salsa and gulped them down. That was a quick trip to heaven and back. Shamelessly, we asked for a second helping before our food arrived.

Deciding to skip the full beef grills, we settled for smaller portions of the rib eye fillet steak slices with a generous dose of rocket leaves and cheese and a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. Juicy juicy steaks in both, one with the healthier salad and one stuffed in bread! Both, yum! A side of grilled Asparagus helped the flavours. We split an excellent home made cold cheese cake that was served with a bit of raspberry sauce and kept going gaga over it.

For a taste of something beyond Phad Thai and go go bars, El Goucho presents a fresh alternative to Bangkok eating with a taste of something from as far away as Argentina. How close is this to Argentina food itself? I hope to find out someday!
