Whilst we all love the classic ketchup or mayonnaise, there are so many great combinations and recipes to try, with textures and flavours to compliment different meats perfectly. We have been busy researching some tasty and quick recipes for you, and here’s everything you need to know about sauce for your burger!

Relish

Relish is a type of sauce consisting of chopped vegetables and cooked with vinegar and spices such as this classic tomato relish.  Or for something different try the maple bacon relish – the combination of salty bacon and sweet syrup is the perfect mix.

Chutney

Traditionally served with cheese and crackers, chutney is a perfect accompaniment for the beef or pork burger. The sweetness of the fruit in this mango chutney together with the juicy meat and a strong cheese is delightful! Or if you prefer a kick, try Jamie Oliver’s chilli pepper chutney. Similar to chutney and a perfect addition to a lamb or beef burger is a sweet chilli or tomato and chilli jam. The mix of sweet and spicy flavours lend well to the meat, combined with a strong flavoured cheese such as halloumi and rocket.

Spicy

If you love a bit of spice you can’t have a burger without a spicy sauce. Commonly used with Asian dishes, Sriracha sauce is a fiery chilli sauce or make your own chipotle burger sauce. If you want something more creamy and indulgent, try the jalapeno cheese sauce.

Mayonnaise

Classic mayonnaise is popular for obvious reasons but why not try a blue cheese mayo, harissa mayonnaise (which goes perfectly with lamb burgers) truffle mayo, or a delicious garlic aioli.

Pesto

Pesto isn’t just for pasta! Easy to make and very tasty if you want a herby, cheesy twist on your burger.

In short, you can have pretty much any flavour and type of sauce on your burger, and don’t be afraid to mix and match!
