Digital Detox Check In: Week Two

We’re into our second week of our Digital Detox and it’s time for a check-in. There’s need to report back to us, though we’d love it if you shared your experience! Rather, check in for yourself. It’s been a little more than a week since you decided to give yourself a little more “me time” and we hope it’s paying off. If you’ve found that you’re straying from your mindfulness and you want to get back on track, we can help with that. Here are some tips to help you make it through your Digital Detox. 

Don’t Beat Yourself Up

If you’ve lost track of your daily 8 minutes, don’t be discouraged, and definitely don’t beat yourself up over it. Just try again! The next time you make a cup of tea is another opportunity to start making mindfulness a habit. Set a reminder in your phone (before you detox from digital devices, of course!) or check off the days you remember to take 8 minutes for yourself in a calendar or planner. If you slip up again, don’t stress. The Digital Detox should be a relaxing and enjoyable experience, not a punishing one.

Fill the Empty Space

When you have a phone on you all day long, you can feel naked without one. What will you look at? What do you do with your empty hands? Make your break from technology less terrifying or boring by replacing your devices with a self-care activity. We’ve thought of plenty of options for you to choose from, and all will help you find calm and serenity during your eight minute break! If you feel tempted by your phone, try putting it in another room or turning it off. That way, you’ll have to put for extra effort to access it and you’ll be less tempted to do so.
