Bombay Bramble Fizz: Recipe

RECIPES | When I lived in the UK, bramble was a flavour that I became very well acquainted with. What’s bramble? It’s any rough, tangled, prickly shrub which grows blackberries, raspberries, or dewberries.

Bombay Sapphire recently released Bombay Bramble, a gin made with freshly harvested blackberries and raspberries, and as part of the 2020 Virtual Travel Expo, I collaborated with them to design a cocktail.

I didn’t want to overpower the flavour of the gin, so opted for a fizz cocktail, the Bombay Bramble Fizz, featuring fresh fruit that really serves to highlight the gin’s berry characteristics.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes / Cooking time: n/a / Serves: 1

Ingredients

  • 50ml Bombay Bramble
  • 10ml water
  • 10 fresh blueberries
  • 15g sugar
  • 5ml lemon juice
  • 150ml tonic water

Method

  1. First, make the blueberry syrup. Combine the water, fresh blueberries, and sugar into a pot. Bring to the boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for five minutes. Allow to cool.
  2. Put the Bombay Bramble, blueberry syrup, and lemon juice into cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes. Shake well.
  3. Strain into a glass and top with tonic water.
  4. Garnish with blueberries on a drink swizzler/skewer.

Notes

You can use regular Bombay Sapphire Gin to make this cocktail and it’s quite delicious. But the Bombay Bramble really makes the flavours pop.
