Kummayam recipe - Aadi kummayam recipe - Aadi festival recipe - Healthy sweet recipes

Kummayam - Aadi Kummayam is totally new to me. I saw this in many blogs. I normally make kali / Porridge. As this also has more urad dal I decide to give it a try. It is simple to make and even beginners can try as there is specific string consistency needed. Ghee in this is totally up to you. By name, this is made during Aadi month. This involves making Kummayam flour and finally making kummayam. It is really healthy high in protein and iron. this traditional Chettinad dish is given to girls during the puberty stage too.

Ingredients
For Kummayam flour
Urad dal - 1.25 cup
Moong dal/split yellow dal - 1/4 cup
raw rice - 1/4 cup
For Kummayam
Kummayam flour - 1.25 cup
Jaggery -1/2 cup
Karuppatti - 3/4 cup
Ghee - 1/4 cup

Method:

Dry roast Urad dal till nice aroma released. No need to be brown just golden color is enough
Dry roast rice till it puffs up
dry roast moong dal till nice aroma released

Sieve it. Kummayam powder ready.  Take 1 heaped cup of kummayam flour. Add 2.5 cups of water mix well without any lump. Add jaggery and mix well
