Sweet and tart in flavor, the Cherry Sauce recipe should definitely be on your list this holiday season. It can elevate the simplest of food items into delectable treats!

Cherries are nutrient-packed fruit that tastes wonderful and looks lovely. They make delicious jellies, sauces, syrups, and pie fillings when in season. They are also the ideal toppings for cakes (iykyk).

While many seasonal fruits can be turned into sauces, Cherry sauce definitely tops the charts for me. That’s because you can use it in so many ways.

If you plan to use frozen cherries, make sure to reduce the amount of water in the sauce, as frozen cherries contain a lot of water.

Take a saucepan and into it add cherries, water, and granulated sugar. If using frozen cherries, add just half the amount of water to begin with. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat and keep stirring often.

In a small bowl, stir together cornstarch and the lemon juice until smooth. Add the cornstarch mixture to the boiling cherry mixture and whisk.

If you are using frozen cherries to make the sauce, check on the texture of the mixture and add one tablespoon of water at a time if it turns too thick. Return the sauce to a boil, stirring constantly.
