The cake is also known as a celebratory dish on various occasions like weddings, anniversaries, birthdays. It is a form of the sweet dessert which is baked. The basic Ingredients with their functioning used in baking are :

  • Baking powder: It is a leavening agent made from cream of tartar and starch that helps the cake's batter to rise. It should be used in accurate measuring otherwise results in a bitter taste.
  • Baking soda: It is also a leavening agent and pure sodium bicarbonate and it is paired with acidic ingredients like chocolates, yogurt.
  • Butter: It is the best ingredient used for baking than other ingredients as it adds flavor and moisture.
  • Eggs: They are the most essential ingredient in baking used for binding, flavor, thickening or glazing. Egg whites add moisture and stability whereas egg yolks add texture and flavor.
  • Flour: It holds the ingredients together and different varieties of flours have a different level of protein which helps in baking food.
  • Milk: Adding of milk with ingredients gives strength, structure, flavor, tenderness, color, and moisture to the batter of the cake.
  • Sugar: It helps in caramelized the recipe and adds the crunch to the crush of cake and gives sweetness to the cake as well.

Recipe of making Vanilla Cake easily at Home.

  • Gather all ingredients:
1 cup (225 g) of unsalted butter
1 cup (225 g) of granulated sugar
A pinch of salt
2 teaspoons (9.9 ml) of vanilla extract
5 eggs
2 cups (240 g) of cake flour
  • Preheat the oven to 163 degrees and grease and the flour a cake pan.
Use butter or shortening to grease the pan then sprinkle a light layer of flour into the pan, rotate the pan until its evenly coated then tap out the excess flour. 
  • Cream the butter and sugar.
Mix the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl and beat them together until the mixture is light, fluffy and creamy.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla extract.
Add the eggs and keep beating the mixture until the eggs are completely incorporated.
  • Stir in the cake flour.
Add flour with all ingredients and stir it until it's just incorporated and be careful not to over-mix it.
  • Pour the batter into the pan.
With the help of a spatula, scrape down the sides of the bowl.
  • Bake the cake for 1 hour 15 minutes.
 The cake is ready to eat when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
