Wood Apple Chutney step by step cooking method:
Ingredients for Wood Apple Chutney:
- Wood Apple / Velakkaya - 3 spoons pulp
- Green chilli - 3
- Salt - according to taste
- Turmeric - a pinch
- Tempering/tadka -Any cooking oil, red chili, urad dal, hing/Asafoetida, curry leaves, jeera, mustard seeds
- Curd - according to taste
- Coriander leaves
Preparation of Wood Apple Chutney:
1. Choose ripe velakkaya / Wood Apple for this chutney. Break it, open and scoop out the inside pulp. Keep aside in a bowl.
2. In a tadka pan heat a spoon of oil, add red chili, urad dal, hing, curry leaves, jeera, mustard seeds and chopped green chillies and fry till rawness of green chilli goes i.e. for a minute.

3. Grind fried green chillies, velakkaya gujju, salt and turmeric.
4. Transfer it into a bowl,to that add the prepared tadka and 2 or 3 tablespoons of curd and mix well.
5. For seasoning, to enhance the tastes add some fresh coriander leaves.

Serving Ideas of Wood Apple Chutney:
Wood apple chutney goes well with steamed rice, chapati, roti, phulka or as side dish for any flavoured rice.
