It is not any private hotel, but the Holiday Inn in Kolkata, India to conceptualize a Chocolate Durga goddess during Kolkata’s famed Durga festival to start at the fag end of September.
This culinary tribute to the idol makers of Kumartuli (the craft village) is a six-feet idol of goddess Durga carved out of nearly 600 kg of chocolate. Now whether that’s going to inspire devotion or gluttony for chocolate, only a foodie can say.
“Our pastry chef, Sunil, a skilled idol-maker from Kumartuli, and a junior chef worked 7 days to get this ready and I am really impressed,” said Kenneth Scott, top executive of the hotel, remarked. “The dark chocolate Durga welcomes devotees till the 29th of September, after which it is most likely to be auctioned for charitable purposes,” he added.
If you are in Kolkata and live in cool home/office temperature of 16-20 C, you can try bidding for this auspicious sculpture after an inquiry with the hotel first.
