OmLet from Niepoort results from the collaboration of the Spanish winemaker and producer Telmo Rodriguez resulting from his great interest in the Douro region and Niepoort's will to look for different winemaking solutions in different terroirs. This wine has its origin in the old vines, with more than 60 years old, planted in the highest elevations and east facing, which usually have slower and more balanced maturations. The ageing period, as well as the malolactic fermentation, took place in French oak barrels of 228 litres for 22 months. Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz are the most present varieties but we also find Sousão and Alicante Bouschet. Omlet has a very concentrated ruby colour and a complex aroma. Notes of wild fruit, some leather and spices are fully integrated with the mineral character. In the mouth it shows very concentrated, deep, with very silky and delicate tannins. Volumous and structured, it is balanced by minerality, accentuated by the character of old vines and a good acidity. Complex finish, rich and very long. A wine of guard, which will greatly benefit from the ageing in bottle. Available to order!
