Easy Homemade White Bread

As a food blogger, I’m always trying to learn new ways to cook something or how to tweak a recipe to make it allergy-friendly. My first ever blog post was homemade bagels, and I think back to it often. I have always been obsessed with bagels, I have the time to learn how to cook what I want, so why not give it a try? When I successfully made homemade bagels, I think that’s when I got hooked. Because I realized being in the kitchen doesn’t have to mean slaving away for hours, it can be fun and experimental! When it dawned on me that I could probably figure out a way to make homemade white bread, I had to at least try it out.

Thankfully, it worked! And better yet, it was SO EASY. I honestly can’t believe I waited so long to try it out. I’m not sure there’s any better smell than fresh bread baking. The hardest part was waiting long enough for it to cool so I could have my first bite!

If you’re looking for a light and fluffy bread recipe, here you go! You don’t need a bread machine, just an oven. I use my stand mixer to make kneading easier, but I’m sure you could put some elbow grease into it and yield the same results. If you make this bread, I’d love to see your results, make sure to comment or post on social using the hashtag #TheUrbenLife

Easy Homemade White Bread
Yields: 2 loaves

1 package active dry yeast
2 1/4 cups warm water
6 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon salt

Directions

1. In the bowl of your stand mixer, dissolve yeast in warm water.

2. Add the flour, sugar, oil, and salt and knead until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.

3. Grease bowl, cover, and let the dough rise until doubled, about 1 1/2 hours.

4. Punch down the dough and turn onto a lightly floured counter. Divide the dough in half and shape each into a loaf.

5. Place each into two greased loaf pans. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes.

6. Bake at 375 degrees F for 3 minutes or until bread sounds hollow when tapped.

7. Once done, remove loaves from pans and let cool on wire racks.

Enjoy!
