SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURS – ARE YOU A PART OF THE WORLD CHANGERS

Social entrepreneurs are not very different from entrepreneurs. You may raise eyebrows on this statement but after having read this article, you might have a change of mind. Just like entrepreneurs, Social entrepreneurs are also people who want to work towards development, just on a much larger scale. A social entrepreneur is a person who works hard to make significant changes in the society, be it educational changes, environmental changes, or social changes.

Such people keep aside the monetary benefit for once and aim at making the world a better place to live in. Most of the youth is turning towards social entrepreneurship rather than just being entrepreneurs. The sense of belongingness in people is increasing. The aim at a larger level has become to uplift the mankind rather than degrading it.

There is no exact definition as to what social entrepreneurship is or who social entrepreneurs are. A lot of people might consider themselves social entrepreneurs, but what exactly are the traits that would make you fall into the category.

  • CREATIVITY:

This is one of the common traits between an entrepreneur and a social entrepreneur. Everybody sees a problem when there is one, but how many of us can think of an innovative way to getting rid of it is the question here. To be a social entrepreneur, you must have a very creative mind. This trait will help you in helping the world and people in it.

  • PASSION:

Again a common link, passion is what drives a person to do what they do best. Social upliftment is very selfless, but if we look deeper, it is what makes us a human being. Working for the betterment of children, women, earth and basic human rights can be achieved if done with passion. The rush people feel when they feed the hungry, give toys to orphans, and save animals is what makes a person passionate about being a social entrepreneur.

  • PHILANTHROPIC ZEST:

When a person is not wildly driven by the need for money or fame, he has a philanthropic zest. This feeling of doing something for people irrespective of whether money and fame is involved or not is a trait of true social entrepreneur. But that does not mean that one must not look for money. Afterall, all great deeds money to run as well.

  • TEAM WORK:

If you really want to help people and the world, you must remember that you cannot be doing alone. ‘The more, the merrier’ works perfectly well here. Teamwork is the key to change the world, since it was collective years of a lot of people which has led the world to where it is now.  Cleaning a beach, teaching the underprivileged, or giving treatment to the backwards cannot be carried out by one person alone.

  • LEADERSHIP:

Just because a lot of people want to change the world, does not mean that they don’t need some guidance. If you are creative, if you know what you want then it’s your time to take the leader’s cap. Maintaining a group of people can sometimes be really hard, but since the end goal of people on your team would be same, all that would be left to you is guidITIVITY:

Be positive about the future. Since the main aim of a social entrepreneur is to make positive changes in the world, it would be bad if he is not positive about the future himself. Good things take time and patience, especially since the downfall has taken so long to appear.

Patience, perseverance and empathy are vital traits. Not thoughts, but actions alone have the power to change the world. A go-getter attitude is needed if one really wants to work for others. Everybody wants to do something good, but a person who actually gets up to take steps for it, is a true social entrepreneur.
