3 Easy Appetizer Recipes Made with Crescent Rolls

Crescent rolls come in those pop-open tubes and you can find them in the refrigerated section at your local grocery store. These rolls are known for their buttery, flaky crust which makes them the perfect accompaniment for nearly any meal. What many people do not know about Crescent rolls is that you can use them to make a wide variety of interesting appetizers like Pepperoni Pizza Bread, Homemade Mozzarella Sticks, and pull-apart buffalo chicken bread.

Pepperoni Pizza Bread

This pepperoni pizza bread is the perfect game day snack – it is stuffed with tomato sauce, pepperoni, and cheese with a flaky crescent roll crust.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1/3 cup tomato sauce
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 bag pepperoni slices

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto the baking sheet and pinch together the seams.
  3. Roll the dough into a 10-by-14-inch rectangle using a rolling pin.
  4. Spread the tomato sauce down the middle of the rectangle and top with shredded cheese and pepperoni slices.
  5. Cut the uncovered sides of the dough into strips using a pizza cutter.
  6. Fold the strips over the filling, alternating sides to create a braided appearance.
  7. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until the crust is golden brown then cut into slices to serve.

Homemade Mozzarella Sticks

These homemade mozzarella sticks are bite-sized and baked to perfection – they are the perfect appetizer or after school snack.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 8 part-skim mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup panko-style breadcrumbs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough then pinch together the seams and roll it into a 12-by-8-inch rectangle.
  3. Cut the dough into 24 squares using a pizza cutter.
  4. Cut the cheese sticks into thirds then place one piece in the middle of each square.
  5. Wrap the dough around the cheese sticks then dip them in the butter one at a time.
  6. After dipping in butter, dip the cheese sticks into the breadcrumbs and place them on the baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 10 to 14 minutes until the cheese sticks are golden brown.

Pull-Apart Buffalo Chicken Bread

The perfect blend of cheesy and spicy, this buffalo chicken bread is cut into wedges so you can pull it apart as a tasty appetizer for your next party or get-together.

Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces softened cream cheese
  • ¼ cup Frank’s red hot sauce
  • 1 cup shredded pepper jack cheese
  • 2 ½ cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or chopped
  • 2 (8-ounce) can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • ¼ cup blue cheese crumbles

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. Beat together the cream cheese and hot sauce until smooth then stir in the cheese and chicken by hand.
  3. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate the pieces.
  4. Arrange the triangles of dough in a circle in the middle of the baking sheet, lining up the short sides of the triangles so it forms a sun shape.
  5. Overlap the edges of the dough a little bit and spoon the cream cheese blend over the half of each triangle closest to the center of the ring.
  6. Top the chicken and cream cheese mixture with blue cheese crumbles then fold the dough over the filling.
  7. Tuck in the sides of the dough triangles to cover the filling, working your way around the ring.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the dough is golden brown then cool 10 minutes before serving.
