Helpful Signs That May Tell You It Is Time For Assisted Living For Your Loved One

Do you have a Loved one that you feel may be ready for an Assisted Living environment, but you are just not sure? If so, then you are going to want to take a few moments to review the following helpful signs of the need for help with daily living.

Is Unable To Remember All Medication

Many elderly people find themselves with a few medications that they need to take everyday. Some of those medications might be needed a few times a day in order to keep them as healthy as possible. If you find that your loved one has skipped some doses, you will want to inquire as to why that is. Does he or she realize that the medication has been skipped? Maybe they were trying to save money by stretching their prescription out over more than thirty days. Then again, maybe they do not like the side effects that come with taking it. However, if they are unaware that they are skipping a lot of doses, it might be time to get some outside help, especially if the skipped medication could threaten their life.

Is Unable To Keep Up With Daily Hygiene

A daily hygiene regimen is very important for proper mental and physical health. Therefore, if you are starting to notice a decline in the personal hygiene of  your elderly loved one, you will want to look further into it. They could be suffering from depression, which can make anyone care a little less about their looks than they normally would. Then again, it could be that getting in and out of the shower is much more difficult, and possibly even more dangerous, than it once was. Reaching up and around to brush their hair might cause a lot of pain in their joints. If it appears that your family member is unable to properly keep up with his or her personal hygiene, it might be time to explore the option of Assisted living.

Has Become A Fall Risk

Anyone can have the occasional accident. However, if your loved one has found themselves prone to falling more often than not, it is probably time to look into safer environment for him or her. This way, not only will there be fewer stairs or obstacles to overcome, but there will always be someone on hand to assist him or her should an accident happen. You will no longer have to worry about whether there has been an accident and he or she is stuck on the floor in the house.

With those few signs in mind, you should have a much easier time determining whether it is time to start talking to a reputable assisted living facility.
