Give This Book about Drone Basics

We recommended a book called Drones for Dummies by Mark LaFay last year. And it remains a good choice this year. If your metal-hunting gift recipient uses a drone to hunt for treasure in the wide open spaces – or if he or she would like to, this is a must-have. 

This book sells for about $15.00 at your local bookstore or through online booksellers.

Give an Underwater Drone

We wrote about these amazing devices last year. And we are still enthusiastic about them this year. They bring the experience of hunting for precious metals with a drone to a new environment – underwater! They allow you to stand at the edge of a lake or river while your submersible, remote control drone hunts around underwater and sends images of what it sees back to your smartphone or laptop.

Prices have not fallen in the last year, probably because underwater drones are hot new items. One top model is still the Chasing Dory Underwater Drone, a budget model that sells for about $500.00. New adventures and discoveries await with one of these amazing devices!

Give a Metal Detector Phone App

These are about the coolest new phone apps that have been introduced in the last year. They turn your iPhone or Android device into a metal detector that will help you locate metal items that are buried underground or hidden behind walls.

Are they as powerful as a full-size metal detector? We don’t think so. But the portability and novelty make them an appealing option for precious metal hunters.

You will find several apps in the app store on your handheld. We downloaded one called Metal Detector EMF that we discovered can find electronic cables and studs behind walls. We have yet to evaluate it in the great outdoors. But because the app is free, why not try it?
