How To Use Social Media For Business

With everyone stuck at home these days, it seems that it’s more and more important to use Social Media for business. But not everyone knows how to do it correctly. Not only that, but very few businesses know how to use it effectively.

If you’re looking to put more of your resources towards Social media, then there are a few things you need to know. It’s also incredibly important that you don’t put all of your eggs in the social media basket.

Do Your Research

Don’t be one of those businesses that throws up all of the social media channels without doing proper research. Not every platform works for every business. For example, if you’re running an industrial business Instagram is highly unlike to benefit you even remotely.

Make sure that you know who you’re going to be talking to and where they are. Opening a random platform will not benefit you or your business even remotely. If you want to do social media for business well, do your research.

Set Up a Schedule

The next big mistake that people make when they try to use social media for business is they go all willy-nilly with their posting. If you want to effectively use social media, you need to set up a schedule.

Posting three times one week and none the next won’t help you with consistent growth, so you need to set a schedule. What your schedule is should be what works with your schedule. If you can only post twice a week, that’s fine, so long as you’re consistent.

Get Some Help

When I say you need to get some help, I don’t mean you need to hire someone—unless you happen to have the money because it will make your life WAY easier. What I mean is that you need to get a scheduling system.

Don’t expect yourself to log on at your pre-scheduled posting times, instead, get a system. That way you can batch post for the next few weeks. Plus, most good systems will let you respond to comments and monitor your brand on the platform.

A social media platform doesn’t have to break the bank. Seriously, $20 – $25 can typically get you a great platform that will work for your small business. But do spend the money because you’ll waste a ton of time posting.

Do Your Hashtag Research

I’m all about doing my research (clearly), and the other place that many people fail to do well in when they try to use social media for business is their hashtags. Hashtags are great tools, IF you know how to use them correctly.

So, research your hashtags because you’ll have way more luck on social media if you do so. There are a ton of great apps that you can use to do hashtag research, but you can also just go check on the platform as well.
