Microsoft to embed crypto wallet into Edge and install Authenticator Lite

Microsoft is working to introduce two major updates that will change the course of several users across the globe. One of them is related to integrating Crypto Wallet into the Wallet feature of Microsoft Edge, and the other is Authenticator Lite, which gives an additional layer of security to the users. Both developments are noteworthy because they only add to Microsoft’s innovation.

The Crypto wallet that the company is apparently developing would have a password to protect the data. In the event that consumers forget their passwords, they will have access to a reliable password recovery method. In other words, the wallet will be incorporated in order to protect consumers and their data.

It will allow users to transact cryptocurrency from one address to another. The work-in-process crypto wallet by Microsoft for Edge will enable sending and receiving digital tokens, including NFTs. Both digital items will have storage space in the wallet. This was first spotted by a Twitter user who goes by the name sassal.eth. The finding is based on a few images published along with the tweet.

The first image shows five sections, namely Overview, Transactions, Assets, Connections, and Explore, with all of them working to justify their respective titles.

Users have the option of setting up a recovery phase that can be used to recover a forgotten password. However, it has to be remembered that Microsoft has no control if the recovery phrase is lost or misplaced by the users. There is no way for Microsoft to recover the recovery phase.

The transaction section gives three options: swap, send, and buy. Sending the crypto will require one to have the address of the receiver, and swapping will require the users to make relevant selections like which crypto they want to convert to acquire which crypto. The Buy option makes it convenient for users to expand their portfolio by acquiring more tokens and storing them in the wallet.

Signing up for the non-custodial crypto wallet will grant users access to view not just their assets but also pieces of news, or rather a trend, about the crypto market.

Authenticator Lite is a part of the Microsoft 365 roadmap, helping the company and users secure 365 applications in the Outlook app. They will only have to complete the MFA request, where MFA stands for multi-factor authentication.

Microsoft looks at it as an attempt to accelerate the adoption of MFA for 365 Outlook productivity. Users can use Authenticator Lite to protect their Outlook logins at school and at the office.

Additional details are yet to be disclosed, such as whether Crypto Wallet will be implemented globally or exclusively in chosen regions, how many assets it will support, and the fees associated with trading cryptocurrencies. Based on when Microsoft initially announces the security feature, Authenticator Lite will likely be rolled out in phases.
