TamilNadu Budget 2017

  • Around Rs. 99,590 Crore expected through revenue from taxation
  • No tax benefits announced due to the impending GST
  • No new tax imposed
  • Count of two wheelers for physically challenged increased to 2,000
  • High Tech walking sticks for 10,000 physically challenged people
  • Disability pension raised from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,000
  • Rental apartments will be constructed for workers from other states
  • Rs. 1,010 Crore allocated for Labour Welfare
  • Rs. 10 Crore for sanitary napkin provision scheme
  • Rs. 200 Crore allocated for women to purchase scooter at a subsidised rate.
  • Rs. 3,860 Crore allocated for higher studies department
  • Rs. 1,503 allocated for students free schemes
  • Rs. 758 Crore allocated for free laptops scheme.
  • 150 Middle schools will be made as High schools
  • 100 High schools will be made as Higher secondary schools
  • Fund for Maternity assistance scheme raised from Rs. 12,000 to Rs. 18,000
  • Rs. 10,158 Crore for Public health and family welfare
  • Rs. 1,348 Crore allocated for Chief Minister Insurance scheme
  • Medical shops for low cost generic medicines will be setup.
  • Rs. 22,394 crore allocated to government employees/pensioners welfare fund
  • Rs. 1,161 Crore allocated to Animal husbandry department
  • Anna Daanam scheme initiated by Jayalalithaa will be continued in 265 temples in Tamil Nadu
  • Rs. 1 lakh is allocated per temple to renovate 1,000 rural area temples
  • Rs. 420 Crore allocated to Green housing project to build 20,000 houses
  • Medical seats increased from 1,188 to 1,362
  • A total of Rs. 2,088 Crore allocated for Industrial department
  • Rs. 116 Crore allocated for IT growth
  • 100 units of free electricity will be continued.
  • 3 new metro route for a distance of 107.5 Km
  • Rs. 160 crore allotted to widen state Highways
  • Rs. 2,192 Crore allocated to Transport department
  • Rs. 600 Crore allocated for Urban Swach Bharat Mission
  • Medical Park at Rs. 130 Crore in Kanchipuram
  • More than 500 job vacancies in e-service centres
  • 10 new Taluk office along with residence will be established
  • Rs. 272 Crore allocated to eradicate urban poverty
  • New Electronic items production unit in Sriperumbudur
  • Software export will reach Rs. 1,00,300 Crore
  • New IT Park in Shollinganallur
  • Rs. 3,156 Crore for road infrastructure maintenance
  • Rs.100 Crore allocated for Highways safety fund
  • Rs. 3,042 Crore loan from World Bank for conservation of various water bodies
  • Rs. 984 Crore for Law administration
  • Rs. 253 Crore for Fire department
  • Rs. 49.91 Crore for modernisation of police department
  • Rs. 450 Crore is allocated for Police department housing project
  • Rs. 30 Crore for construction of 49 police stations
  • Rs. 1,483 Crore for Police department and Rs. 282 Crore for prisons department
  • 10,500 personnel will be recruited in special police youth division
  • Rs. 988 Crore allocated to backward community welfare fund
  • Rs. 4,781 Crore allocated for social welfare department
  • Rs. 165 Crore allocated for youth welfare
  • Fellowships will be continued for youngsters without job
  • Museum to represent Tamil culture and tradition will be established.
  • Rs. 48 Crore allocated for growth of Tamil
  • Supply of dhall at subsidised rate will continue in ration stores
  • Rs. 5,500 Crore allocated for food subsidy
  • Amma hotels and pharmacies will continue its operations
  • Rs. 116 Crore for Refugee welfare fund (Sri Lankan refugees)
  • Rs. 1,500 Crore for 7 fishing ports
  • Rs. 768 Crore allocated to Fisheries department
  • Mookaiyur in Ramanathapuram district will get new fishing harbour
  • 5,000 homes will be constructed for fishermen
  • Diesel subsidy for fishermen raised from 15,000 to 18,000 litres
  • Fishing ban compensation increased to Rs. 5,000
  • 200 Aavin parlours to be setup in colleges and universities
  • Rs. 40 Crore Aavin milk production unit at Madurai, for production of flavoured milk
  • Revenue from tax has a drop of Rs. 3,000 Crore this year
  • Higher education department will get Rs. 3,680 Crore
  • Rs. 26,932 Crore for school education department.
  • Food allowance for school students staying in hostel raised from Rs. 755 to Rs. 900
  • Food allowance for college students staying in hostel raised from Rs. 875 to Rs. 1,000
  • Rs. 194 Crore allocated to Handloom and Khadi department
  • Commercial taxes revenue in next fiscal would be Rs 77,234 crore
  • Fiscal deficit will be 2.79%
  • Debt of Tamil Nadu government Rs.3.14 Lakh Crore
  • Total revenue Rs.1,59,362 Crore
  • Fiscal deficit Rs.41,977 Crore
  • Economical Growth expected to be at 9%
  • Rs. 100 Crore allocated for Tamirabarani-Nambiyaaru river linking project
  • Rs. 250 Crore allocated for Avinasi-Athikadhavu project
  • Rs. 25 Crore for poultry development
  • Rs. 182 Crore allocated for providing free cattles
  • 6 Lakh goats / sheeps will be provided
  • 12,000 milch cows will be provided
  • Rs. 134.26 Crore for Co-operative sugar plants
  • Rs. 1,000 Crore for 100 day employment scheme in rural areas
  • Rs. 522 Crore allocated Crop insurance grant scheme
  • Additional 500 centres to rent out agricultural equipments
  • Training for sugarcane cultivation under drip water irrigation
  • Target of 100 Lakh metric tonne in production of food crops
  • Relief fund under Farmers protection scheme raised to Rs. 20,000
  • Rs. 7,000 Crore crop loan for farmer
