(Also check out what we think is killing Indian Fashion Weeks)

Sustainable Fashion

Sustainable fashion was a big hype during Amazon Fashion Week this year as it began with Good Earth’s handloom themed collection with various designers taking part in it. H&M also presented their new Conscious Exclusive Collection where all the fabrics were made out of sustainable materials.

Exaggerated Sleeves

Working around the sleeves is something the designers have been experimenting with for a while now, but none is getting tired of them. Exaggerated sleeves are here to stay this year as well and designers Samant Chauhan and Siddhartha Tytler show that very well.

Power Dressing

On day 1 of Amazon Fashion Week one of the major highlights were how Abraham & Thakore took a new spin at workwear with their multiple layering, boxy silhouettes, suits and ties for women. Huemn had some very strong and bold looks,, filled with a lot of suits and sometimes you wondered if it was a guy wearing it or a girl. Across all the days suits were to be seen everywhere, showing us that one of the big trends for winter fashion 2017 will be power dressing, so suit up girls!

Monochrome

We might think wearing all one color is boring now and nothing new, but that is not the case. It will always remain a classic way to dress up and you can never go wrong with it. We love the beautiful pastel blue color by Ilk and of course the classic black by Vineet Bahl.

Metallics

Though compared to last season metallics was less this time, but you always found it popping up somewhere or the other which means it is still in demand. We love how Dabiri and Siddartha Tytler gave small accents of it in their looks in a creative way.

Futuristic Fashion

Many designers took the future as their inspiration for their collections. For the Grand Finale, designer Tarun Tahiliani, the ‘Guru’, presented a collaborative collection with ‘Shishya’, Amit Aggarwal where the collections looked to the future for inspiration. Pankaj and Nidhi’s collection insisted of exaggerated silhouettes with cut work, laser cut techniques throughout and Sahil Kochhar used a 3D applique technique on his clothes.

Matching Co-ords

This is another trend that we have seen around for a while now and is here to stay for winter fashion 2017. Hemant & Nandita’s look is interesting because one might not even think of it as matching set due to the length of the top, but it is. Patine’s outfit gives off a very cool and casual vibe and along with the set a shirt has been added to it, giving it some texture.

Checks

Embrace the checks for autumn/winter fashion 2017 because they are coming in all different styles and fabrics for you to layer up with and stand out.

Bohemian Style

Pero channeled the gypsy vibe of Latin America with stylised jackets and dresses with colourful stripes and floral embroideries. Anyone would want to part of the fun and playful Péro tribe after watching the show. Textured fabrics, bead-trimmed kaftans and midi dresses with a hint of bohemia and Art Deco defined Pallavi Singhee’s collection.

Athleisure

The hottest trend right now and one of our favourites! We are completely crushing over this embroidered jacket with track pants look by Patine as well as Huemn’s embroidered shirt and tracks.
